Pre-order is just for if you want to use him in online or exhibition mode. You will still be able to use him in the WM mode. It is like last year when Mike Tyson appeared in the Austin vs HBK match in the Attitude Era mode even though he was a pre-order exclusive.

But he'll presumably also be available to everyone via DLC in time.

Not yet. I figured it would be Summerslam but that only turned out to be the historical roster. I'd imagine most of the current roster will be well-represented, plus a couple of who have recently left like Chris Jericho.

Judging off of last year's roster, i bet a lot of the jobbers and lower end guys will not make it again this year to make way for a bigger legends roster. In the past, they've had guys like Yoshi Tastu, Tyson Kidd, etc making the game but I think the roster will be made up of strictly people who are on TV

i am mostly interested in the legends roster myself, could really care less about most new wrestlers. thats makes me wonder though, can you lock out certain wrestlers from ever getting selected for anything? say i wanted to lock out cm punk (of course i dont want to) from being selected for anything like the rumbles or story or whatever, is that possible? i know for sure i would like to lock out all characters that have more than 1 of them in game. i dont need 18 undertakers in my royal rumble

You do have a fair amount of control over things like that in WWE Universe mode.

If I'm gonna nitpick, HBK from XXIV should have a half-ponytail.

Trailer's actually great! Would be cool if they include the full match after you have played a certain wrestlemania match.

I had a good 20 minute demo of WWE 2K14 and here is my short recap:
-It looks like WWE 13. And 12. -New reversal system feels smoother, but looks wonky in some of the transitions. -The addition to dialogue not in cut scenes is pretty cool (Daniel Bryan chanting YES in his entrance, Foley going BANG BANG, etc) -30 Years of WM mode is a carbon copy of Attitude Era mode, just with different matches and objectives. The menu or pacing didn't change from last year. -AI seems a little picked up. My match with Foley in 30 Years mode went about 7 minutes and Foley went for finishers and signatures, the game was locked on easy for the demo.
Overall, I hope this is the last year that Yukes is involved with the WWE series. They are a lazy developer who cuts corners and has gotten complacent with the bare minimum. I hope that with Universe 3.0 that this game is more of a standalone than a very intricate expansion pack for WWE 13.

While it would have been nice to get a little more innovation, I'm guessing it's suffering a bit from coming at the end of a generation and the whole situation with THQ's bankruptcy in the middle of its development. I still expect I'll enjoy it.

I wouldn't call Yukes lazy. They done a way better effort working on Japanese wrestling games than they did with WWE games in the past.

I'm more excited about WWE 2k14 than I am about NBA 2k14 and I haven't watched wrestling in ten years. I wish they would add a lot more Legends though. The current wrestlers are so lame.

exactly how i feel. i would love a game that had nothing but old school wrestlers and lots of them. i want it to be more realistic and feature events from the past as well as having only the 2 belts and lots of tag teams. pretty much i want to relive my child hood lol

I actually agree with Sauru. It could possibly resurrect my interest in wrestling games. SNES was last days I had fun with wrestle games. I would also want Stephanie McMahon and Stacey Keibler in absolute HD.

Taker/Bundy was far from a classic, as Bundy was a bit past his prime by that point. Probably still better than Goldberg/Lesnar though, Taker and Bundy were at least trying.

I was hoping for original evil Doink (Matt Borne). I loved that character. Also why no Savage vs Warrior for Wrestlemania 7? That was far superior to Hogan vs Slaughter.
