It's not transparent, he just used one gray for a part and another gray for the other part. This way the sig looks a wee bit transparent everytime. (The forum goes like this : dark gray, light gray, dark gray, light gray, dark gray, light gray.)

Like Jackal said, it's a genius move and color mastery to make a single sig actually alternate in color according to the forum greys.
