In a post-earnings conference call, Take-Two further dissected its fourth quarter earnings and answered questions from a group of industry watchers. While the publisher reaffirmed that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of GTAIV will launch simultaneously between February and March, Take-Two did say that the Xbox 360 version of the game will receive downloadable content into its fiscal year 2009. When asked whether the game will see a Wii release, a Take-Two representative said, "I think there are other titles that are better suited to the Wii than Grand Theft Auto 4."

Can't help but think it's funny that Microsoft paid $50,000,000 to get two new 'episodes', and they have to wait a year, if not more, after the game is released to get them..

Does this say that the DLC won't release until after fiscal year 2008 is over? Because it can be read that DLC will be released into, i.e. starts prior to and continues coming out through, fiscal year 2009. The DLC will start coming out in 2008 according to last years report.

I'm not sure on what site I read it, but they stated that it was for the fiscal second quarter (Feb - April). Probably can't take that as a fact though, until it's "official".

Thank you. And as it relates to the deferred revenue chunk associated with the episodic content on X-Box 360, you can see that $25 million of that moved into short-term deferred. Could you give us any sense of when that’s going to hit the P&L? Will we see $25 million at one time and then the second 25 or will it be a slow bleed?

The first 25 is for the first episodic content package that’s supposed to go out and that is in March of ’08. That’s why it moved into current because it’s in the next 12 months. The second 25 will be for the second episodic, the episode, and that will be later in fiscal ’08.

Its not released in Australia until around April so kinda sucks for us it seems. I think the US is getting it in March also but i couldnt be sure.

Yes. And the Rockstar will make exclusive downloadable content for the 360 too

In some ways, a later release for the additional episodes might not be such a bad idea, particularly if the game proves to be particularly deep and/or challenging. The new content would then probably come along at a time when the game's replay value is beginning to wane and most of us are looking for something new before any future sequels come out.

That's cool. I liked Saints Row's ragdoll physics. It's nice to know that GTA seems to be taking it a step further.

so it seems the hype machine is starting back up for gta4, personally i was fine with the later release, i was pumped but once the news went away i was cool. now that they have come out with reviews and screenshots again i am all worked up for this game again and i still got almost 3 months to wait

I pre-ordred mine at Gamestop near my job. Actually, I did it August of last year.

Circuit City is selling preorders now too. Honestly I don't see this game being the same as the others in the GTA3 series with better graphics unless Rockstar has something crazy under wraps.

another game looking gtaish is "this is vegas". i have not looked too much into it but it looks like it has elements from gta and several other games.

That game has been in production for some time, there is speculation that it will continue to remain in the works this year.
