wrestlezone.com has pretty good updates
Edge wins the Rumble
Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:16 pm
Somehow seen that coming.
Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:31 pm
it was a pretty good rumble imo.. and it kinda messes with the predicted matchups and rivalries a bit.. it was a very good curveball by the wwe writers.. so what show does the winner go to???
Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:33 pm
Armageddon. Nobody that annoys me won. Good rumble.
Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:36 pm
Didn't they do the exact same thing with Cena a year or two ago? Brought him back before predicted and had him win the rumble. Recycling "surprises" ftl.
Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:48 pm
just as long as cena didn't win makes it a good rumble.. the fact the every elimination had you thinking of the possible scenarios after makes a good rumble.. yeah it was a rehash but judging from the last 4 participants in the rumble it was a pretty unexpected win imo

I had goosebumps when the winner suddenly enters the rumble.

I'm in two minds about Edge winning the Rumble.
Positives: His early return means that his injury - once described as possibly career threatening - is not as bad as previously feared. Good news for all involved. Taker/Edge would be fresher than Taker/HBK and forego the handicap of trying to top what they did last year. Edge winning the Rumble would've been a huge surprise for anyone who doesn't read the dirtsheets as well and deviated from all the "obvious" plans.
Negatives: I didn't really enjoy the way Edge was being booked just prior to his brief run in the tag division with Jericho, padding the title reign stats in angles where the belt went back and forth seemingly every month. I can't shake the feeling that they'd team him up with Vickie Guerrero again, which I'd grown really bored of by the time they ended that angle the first time. Admittedly it's not as bad because he's been out for a while, but I feel Edge is someone along with Cena and Orton whose character would benefit from being away from the title scene for a while, much like HHH when he went a few years between reigns. And even though it's been a while, Taker/Edge isn't entirely fresh either, certainly not as much as Taker/Jericho could've been.
As for the rest of the PPV, I've heard it was pretty disappointing.

The dirtsheets could very well blow this one out of the water, but given what went down on RAW I'm guessing that Batista will side with McMahon in his feud with Bret Hart, leading to Cena taking Bret's side after his promo last week and ultimately setting up Batista vs Cena at Wrestlemania 26 with Vince in Batista's corner and Bret in Cena's corner. Cena wins the match, avenging his loss to Batista at Summerslam 2008 in the process and allows Bret to get revenge on Vince, possibly putting him in the Sharpshooter before posing for the crowd in a more fitting farewall than the Montreal Screwjob.
Tue Feb 02, 2010 9:31 pm
Err, well that would seem to suck.
Tue Feb 02, 2010 9:52 pm
Probably the best we can hope for though. Bret wrestling, even working a street fight, was probably a longshot given his stroke.
Tue Feb 02, 2010 10:19 pm
that would be unfortunate but it would be nice to get Cena focused on something other than Sheamus' title (which still, just doesnt sound right)
Tue Feb 02, 2010 11:20 pm
HHH will probably be the one facing off against Sheamus at Wrestlemania.
Fri Feb 05, 2010 2:16 am
Seems unlikely for Sheamus' early tenure at the WWE.
Seen the entire Royal Rumble PPV, I personally like the Orton-Sheamus match because it's new to viewers, though nothing new and the match just felt that it's like Monday Night Raw.
The Royal Rumble match was pretty empty, crowd was silent, and seems to me -- according to the backstage skit of DX, Triple H saying "You'll find another way" may give up a hint that HBK would be joining the SmackDown Elimintation Chamber because Triple H is already in Raw's EC.
Just a guess, though.
Fri Feb 05, 2010 2:38 am
to spoil that
HBK wasn't on Smackdown this week according to the tapings results over at wrestlezone
Seeing HBK's "Downfall" right now, I see HBK and HHH loosing the titles on monday. And they fact that they are going against a raw and a smackdown tag team I could see HBK getting pinned at the same time by Punk + Big Show or something and de-unifying the tag titles.
Fri Feb 05, 2010 6:02 am
I wouldn't be a fan of that, if it happens. Just get some new, decent looking belts for the tag titles.
But I agree, Punk and Festus are most likely to win them by pinning Miz, to boost their little society.
Watched the Rumble, love Edge returning, although it doesn't look like we'll be getting a Jericho-Edge Mania match, unless Jericho wins the Heavyweight title in the Chamber, which I highly doubt.
I liked the Randy-Sheamus match, because it was something different, as Lean said. Good to see Orton getting back to heel on RAW, after working as a face in their match.
The Taker-Rey match was quite odd, because of the abrupt ending. Undertaker completely no-selling two 619s to hit the Last Ride for the pin seemed almost too 'superman-like', even for Taker's standards.
Fri Feb 05, 2010 6:08 am
Even Superman can be hurt. You can't hurt someone who's dead.

It also looks like we've seen the last of WWE's version of ECW, to become WWE NXT and a full-on glorified development brand. Hopefully that means Christian will be moved to RAW or Smackdown, there's no way he should be heading up a brand like that.
Fri Feb 05, 2010 8:23 am
and for the fun, there is already a NXT wrestling federation in Europe
Fri Feb 05, 2010 8:36 am
Yes, that might lead to a swift name change.
Fri Feb 05, 2010 10:08 am
well they commented on it and doesnt look like they are going to sue the WWE about it (yet)
"We have had no direct contact from WWE regarding this matter but we welcome any conversation or resolution they would like to put forward." Commented Peter Murphy, owner of the Scottish Wrestling Alliance.

I'm just happy that guys like Regal oder Christian might get more high-profile storylines, beacuse most certainly they can't stay on a 'Next Generation' show.
BTW, it was pretty much a year ago when Christian returned. Who would've thought back then that he would stay that long on ECW? Guess they're really resentful about that TNA stint.

Nice, did you take that picture? Wonder if they'll use a horizontal logo for normal purposes..
Sat Feb 06, 2010 1:05 am
