Chinese teen sells his kidney for an iPad 2

The 17-year-old boy, identified only by his surname, "Zheng", confessed to his mother that he had sold the kidney after spotting an online advertisement offering cash to anyone prepared to become an organ donor.

"I wanted to buy an iPad 2, but I didn't have the money," the boy told Shenzhen TV in the southern province of Guangdong, "When I surfed the internet I found an advert posted online by agent saying they were able to pay RMB20,000 to buy a kidney." After negotiations, the boy travelled north to the city of Chenzhou in Hunan Province where the kidney was removed at a local hospital which discharged him after three days, paying a total of RMB22,000 for the organ.

The boy, who has suffered complications following the surgery, returned home but was unable to keep what he had done from his mother.

Apple products like the iPhone and the iPad are in huge demand in China, and are seen as a badge of wealth and sophistication by young consumers.

I wonder if all of cyanide's organs are still intact.

Apple just fucked over their rivals.

Apple has been awarded its long sought-after patent on the iPhone. Intellectual property experts say it's so broad and far-reaching that the iPhone maker may be able to bully other smart phone manufacturers out of the U.S. market entirely.

Apple's patent essentially gives it ownership of the capacitive multitouch interface the company pioneered with its iPhone...

That's likely to produce a new round of lawsuits over the now-ubiquitous multitouch interfaces used in smartphones made by the likes of HTC, Samsung, Motorola, Research in Motion, Nokia, and others that run operating systems similar in nature to Apple's iOS, like Google's Android...

Apple could conceivably restrict makers of touchscreen smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices from selling their products in the U.S. More likely is that Apple would reach a settlement with such competitors and start licensing its patented technology for a tidy new income stream.
If Apple does decide to play hardball and squeeze out rivals rather than set up cross-licenses, the source said, it's entirely possible that a court could find it in the public interest to scrap the patent rather than allow a monopoly on what has become a defining interface for an entire category of consumer devices.

Doesn't affect me but that's pretty fucked up. The iPhone 4 is already outdated compared to what's coming out, the idea of Apple being able to monopolize the smartphone market based on their product so far is horrifying.

I got a question. I was thinking of getting the Ipod Touch, the newest one. Does anybody recommend getting it, or should I stay away from it ?

Get an iPhone, depending on your current cell phone plan. If you're not willing to pay a little more per month for the data plans, etc for the iPhone, then get a touch, but the Touch and the iPhone cost the same here in the US. With an iPhone, you can replace both a phone and an iPod at one time. I recommend an iPhone, but my friends who have iPod Touches like them very much.

See, heres the thing. I am getting the phone from America to Estonia, meaning I really cant use it. In Estonia, the price for it is tremendous, and with my friend going to America, I thought I would get a iTouch. Im thinking to go with the Touch.
