Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion

Anyone listen to this? If you don't know about Animal Collective, you'll probably be hearing more about them because this album has hit mainstream success. They've always been popular but their strange, experimental music puts most people off to their music. I was one of those. I hated this band until this came out. It's psychedelic pop sound is easy to get into and some of the most unique stuff you'll ever hear. After really enjoying the album, I decided to give their other albums a second try and now most of it is quite enjoyable if you're in the right mindset. This album is just so catchy and fun. It's a must-hear imo.

Here's the video for the best track, "My Girls"

I haven't been into Thursday after "War All The Time". That one and "Full Collapse" are still pretty damn good, but it doesn't have the same effect on me that it used to have, there's been too many copycats everywhere trying to do the same thing, which kinda ruined it for me.

Rosetta - Wake/Lift

That one's for Gundy...Possibly the heaviest and most atmospheric stuff I've ever listened to, these guys make ISIS sound like Coldplay. Absolutely mindblowing stuff.

N.A.S.A. I do not know exactly who they are .. more like a Dj crew with many guest musicians I guess. I love their sound, finally something new for my "innovative" hip hop mind.

N.A.S.A is literally NASA. These artists came together and made an album for the space program nasa thingy. Well that's what I've read.

No Line On The Horizon -- U2.

A lot like Zooropa and Pop, if you dig that.

Rosetta - The Galilean Satellites

What pretty much created the "space metal" scene, some of the heaviest/most atmospheric stuff you'll ever hear. Both CDs are meant to be played at the same time to get the full experience, they're completely in synch. Not for the faint of heart though.

Recommended tracks from that album?

If you were referring to my post, I'd recommend the last two tracks, "Itinérant" and "Au Pays Natal" (the titles of the first disc are in French but the band is from Philadelphia), respectively 16 and 13 minutes long...
The titles of the second disc are named after stars and are pretty much ambiance/noise tracks to synch with the 1st disc.

21st Century Breakdown-Green Day

Nothing stands out really off this album. There's only 1 obvious single...the rest flows nicely into 1 album that i think is actually more of what they were going for on American Idiot...If you like the 'new' Green Day...its worth a listen

I like 3am, Insane and Stay Wide Awake. You can check out every song on youtube. He didn't really rip it much on this album, other than finding interesting styles to rhyme words. No D-12 features, wtf?

im on crack a bottle on my first listen
1. Some of these give new calibers of fucked up: even for eminem
2. im excited to see perhaps the relapse 2 album in order to see where he's taking this...I feel like this is his battle with addiction and his eventual crash. I want to see the next stage. Em's always at his best not as shady but as Marshall and i think that may happen more on relapse 2

Haven't checked it out yet and I don't know, I don't even feel like giving it a listen...ever.

Anyways, one of the best hip-hop albums of 2008. I somehow slept on this one...

Don't worry you aint missing a lot....while it is better than Encore, but he fucks up most of the songs with his new high pitched voice!

New high pitched voice? He's been using the high pitch voice forever. I think you are referring to the accent he uses and the embellishment he uses to convey another person speaking during his rhyme.
