Official NBA 2K6 Thread

the triple threat animations are there, but they're kinda pointless except maybe if you want to shield the defender away from the ball. it's just unfortunate that you can't blow past your defender, like you can in nba live.

I got 2k6 yesterday and i've played 5 games and its really, really awesome

Sliders probably need heaps of tweaking, on Pro, I win by like 50 points but on all-star i lose by a bit, with a stacked Spurs team.... so hm, maybe i should stick to All-star.....

Anyways, overall awesome game.

but now i got another question,i was just playing this game, cleve at denver, it was a close game and everything was fine until the fourth quarter, then carmelo started taking alot of shots and started dominating... he kept doing that running shot (the one where he kinda sticks out his knee and floats it up with one hand), and i couldnt defend it, the first few times i didnt really contest it much because he was taking them from beyond the free throw line, then he made a couple and i started contesting... but everytime i tried to contest it id get called for a foul. lebron had 3 fouls in the Q and eventualy got fouled out cause of that one move...

so can anyone tell me how to stop that move, pressing triangle almost always is a foul, and if i just stay close to the guy he will make it 70% of the time, i havent tried to get the charge yet and im thinking that might work

It's really hard to stop, I know. I get called for a foul too when i try to block it, but i guess if you go at it from the side you're safe. Just don't let him drive by you lol.

i got a copy yesterday, but have yet to finish a game. at the end of the quarter, the cutscene doesnt play, and you're just stuck looking at the empty court. it happens every game, at the end of a random quarter. anyone else ever have this problem? what's the deal?

it's the clutch players like melo that are meant to make these shot as in real life, you just have to face that some teams have players who just make shot after shot-Kobe, melo, DN etc.
this is good as this is how they play their game

ya i like it how kobe and melo will take over games in the fourth like in real life, but i was just talking about that one move, because they make it or else get the foul every time

alright, well im still know where near sick of this game and i'm getting into the 24/7 mode more now and i love the player ratings so much more than Live 06

still loving the game, the sliders i have are realistic in every category except for fast break points, i get 10-12 a game, while my opponent gets 15-25, i cant seem to stop them, its not because of turnovers or taking quick shots on offense either, i just cant figure out what to change in my sliders to fix this

Check your offensive rebounding numbers. You might be getting beaten on the boards that way.

this game seems really great.......i'll probably rent it before i grab a copy...I was wondering, does this game get boring after a while or is it just amazing?! Is 'The Assosiation' mode fun? Also, not so great teams like the 'Cats, will they do amazing in games, or is just like real life and they'll kind of pretty much suck?

It doesn't get boring for me, but it really depends on your sliders. If you don't get them right the game pretty much blows. The Association mode is cool, as far as the Bobcats go in the game they do fairly well ... but you've got to remember in real life they had no Okafor or May, and Gerald Wallace + Primoz Brezec had injury problems. They pretty much don't have that in this season of 2K6 I'm doing so they're not too bad.

The trades are also pretty cool and generally make sense. Milwaukee traded TJ Ford for Nene, as the Spurs I got alot of offers for guys like Barry and Van Exel. Also when a main guy goes down injured it shows in that team, the Lakers went 2-12 without Kobe for instance. The rookie scouting is awesome, and being able to play them 5 on 5 is cool too.

Wow, this game sounds great! I really like the part when Kobe gets injured, the team goes on a loosing streak or whatnot. I'll probably just buy thig instead. Jae, your sliders sound great..Do you mind if you can post them?

I have no idea how far over the 50 they are so I can't really type them out. It also depends on what style of game you play, and how you want the AI to play. No matter what your other sliders are, the most important ones are the tendancy ones.

any multiplayer association mode?!? if so, I'd buy it just so I could play it with my older bro....

in the 2k servers. since you're using a ps2, you probably need a network adapter. it's there though..

THIS GAME IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!

I was just playing a game with the Knicks vs. /Hornets and it wass just amazing...First two quaters the Knicks were doing awful, shooting 31% but then in the second half everything turned around. We shots 51% overall in the whole game but ended up loosing 56-54. It was a very tight game going down to the wire. I stole the ball twice in a row while loosing by 3. First Starbury steals it and drives in for the basket and then JC gets it and lays it in. We were up by 1....then about 15 seconds left, the hornets pass it back and fourth and then PJ Brown ends up scoring with 4.8 seconds left. I call a timeout right away and guess what? i end up shooting an air ball which causes me to foul with 0.6 seconds left. I foul P.J Brown he makes his first but not his second and Jerome James gets the ball and it's over ....

I ended up with this statline:

Jamal Crawford - 22/0/0

all the other knicks were doing well...not that great though
