Freaking Origin still shows game as "not yet released". Basterds sent me an email saying something along the lines of "your game is ready to download" just to rub it in too. Common problem apparently. Quite annoying though as I literally am sick at home and would love to be procrastinating and playing the game right now.
I believe my origin name is jvols.

try Origin live chat. They are actually really really really good in my experiences with them.
also, adding friends is acting weird, feel free to add me, JaoSming, too

What if I just wanna build my city offline without any other people? shit outta luck?
Wed Mar 06, 2013 1:25 pm
can't be offline, but you can have a private region you don't share with anyone, then build to your pleasing
Wed Mar 06, 2013 2:24 pm

but in all seriousness, all my work from when the servers were down this afternoon was saved and ready for me when I logged on tonight. So, so far so good

MUST STOP. CAN'T STOP.
Sewage, garbage such a pain, but I do like the lack of pipes & power lines.
people always complaining about air pollution "oh it's so germy here!" fuck off, you were the ones that wanted the industrial jobs in the first place
and then complaining about their injuries. i'm trying to fix all of these things but they never go away. but i guess they need something to complain about. the R & I demand bars are full, so people like it in my city

The odd thing is when I got the email about the last beta, they said "Everyone join in, we want to tax our servers as much as possible so they'll work when the game came out"
And then when the game came out it had server issues
I'd love to join in but I'm too busy with schoolwork, plus I can't be arsed to deal with server issues. Maybe I'll join later.

it finally happened. I wanted to play and the servers were down.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/03/ea-disables-non-critical-gameplay-features-to-relieve-simcity-servers/So, Cheetah speed was removed as part of a patch. Yay.
Also...
http://kotaku.com/5989265/amazon-has-stopped-selling-digital-copies-of-simcityThis launch just keeps getting better.
Oh if only they fucking allowed you to play SINGLE PLAYER OFFLINE. But that's a crazy concept, right? Who'd want that?
EDIT: Here's an interesting and enticing Kickstarter project:

EA servers to paying Sim City consumers
Fri Mar 08, 2013 2:01 pm
yeah i tried playing at midnight last night and servers would not show up. seems to be ok now
Sat Mar 09, 2013 3:10 pm
well, I guess I will be playing Crysis 3
If you buy and activate SimCity before the 18th, you get a free PC game.

"What we saw was that players were having such a good time they didn't want to leave the game, which kept our servers packed and made it difficult for new players to join," explained senior producer Kip Katsarelis on EA's forums.

I was online when you added me and accepted right away....I just havent been able to play the game. I can authenticate and start the game, but in-game I get a cannot connect to server error.
and yes, that deal would be for us and new purchases I'm assuming.

There's a lot of rumor about the new EA deal, but if it is for any game, or a set list of games, I'll be glad to join in. I won't play Sim City of course until the game gets better, but if you can choose any EA game just for the Sim City server troubles, I'm in!

I hope EA doesn't consider that as a problem, if they do - smh.

I have had no problems playing, i just stay off of cheetah mode for extended periods of time and i play on "europe west" server
Sun Mar 10, 2013 11:56 am
I was unable to get into any servers 24 hours ago, might try again tonight
Mon Mar 11, 2013 5:48 am
Was finally able to play yesterday. Few quirks (have of them my own fault).
The whole trade economics are a little odd to me. The game doesn't show how much you're projected to make based on trade, which is HUGE. My account says I'll make $1100 hourly, yet due to exporting my resources, I'm making well over $10000 every hour. Also I still haven't seen the cost of importing/exporting products change in the two days I've actually been able to play.
I made the huge mistake of purchasing the Commercial HQ upgrade at the Petroleum HQ before the Refinery Upgrade. Which means I need to make some ridiculous amount of money/hour just from Petrol in order to get another HQ upgrade and get the Refinery (which is $400,000 btw). Obviously the 3rd upgrade to the Petrol HQ was meant to be gained with help from the added funds from refining oil, which I can't do. Screwed myself over and I even tried bulldozing the Commercial HQ ($400000) in the hope that I could gain access to the refinery once again, no dice. Literally screwed the entire city up for me.
Lovin the game though. Except the stupid heroes/villians thing. That's dumb
Mon Mar 11, 2013 7:46 am
yeah heroes/villains thing is dumb. what a waste of space in my city that's pretty much full but there's still such a huge demand for zones.
I wish there was a way for them to tell you how much space you should in between roads to not waste space. the city limits seem a bit too small, especially with the huge buildings they expect you to build towards the end when you start getting upgrades.
they seem to present a solution for anything bad that happens in the game except for air pollution. i wish there was a way to get rid of that.
also, I built an international airport great work, they took my money 1000000 bucks and still no airport wtf. it's still being "built"
Mon Mar 11, 2013 10:21 pm
They took your money and didn't deliver? So basically like a real city?
