I still can't connect on why the once a day online checks are needed for the games sharing within the circle (which is nice btw).
Say Jason Collins buys and adds a basketball game to his library and shares it to his Out circle. John Amaechi who's in the Out circle doesn't own the game but still plays it thru Collins' shared library. I assume Amaechi needs to be online to access shared games in the Out circle...still no reason why the once a day check is needed if you need to be online to access the shared games...so Collins then gives (not sells) the physical disc to Richard Jefferson but he can't play the game since that individual game's license is still tied to Collins when Jefferson went online and tried activating the game...still no reason why the once a day check is needed if you need to be online to activate or add games to your account.

Fixed my post so I can be enlightened why the once a day check is needed for sharing in the circle.

So Kinect is no longer mandatory.....TBH this whole 180 business has confused me more than anything.

I guess the backlash has been strong enough and the pre-order numbers worrying enough that they've panicked and are trying anything to win back gamers.

I want know what you guys think of this-
Xbox one has less processing power than the ps4. Will developers choose to develop for the ps4 and scale down to the resources of the Xbox one or will they develop for the Xbox one and port to the ps4?
Tue Aug 13, 2013 9:19 am
Early rumblings have suggested that the PS4 is easier to develop for, so my guess is that it's going to be the priority.
Tue Aug 13, 2013 9:36 am
Since I am planning on PS4, I would much rather them develop for and scale down to X1, but I wouldn't be surprised if the opposite were true for multiplatform games, develop for the more limited hardware (which isn't really that limited in comparison right?) and port over.
Tue Aug 13, 2013 10:58 am
Either way, it's going to take some adjustments. The Xbox one has embedded ram that devs have to code for, not to mention the different operating systems and api's.
I can only hope that they choose ps4 since that is what I am getting, of course. I'm guessing in the end, whichever console sells more will be the one that gets the initial coding.

They'll develop on PC and port down to the consoles.

Heard that too.

They are already doing that because of the x86 architecture, but whether they actually release on the PC platform remains to be seen.

i would love for them to develop on the best platform and scale down but seeing as every pc game i have ever played with a console version has sucked i highly doubt it will be any different this time. consoles have been screwing over pc gamers for a long time now
i wonder if we will soon see the announcement for the 400 dollar xbox one that comes kinect free?

You haven't seen games recently I take it.

I still prefer to play non-FPS/RTS games on consoles. And I can't really name games that were better on PC.

i have seen many games get dumbed down to fit a console. latest example for me would be diablo 3 and TESO

Diablo 3 wants to go on consoles? That's neat. I support that idea. It could encourage Blizzard to actually make games for consoles.

so now that M$ has gone back on everything that people hated the XB1 for, will people forgive them and buy the XB1 or will they still stray to the PS4?
Thu Aug 15, 2013 2:38 pm
sticking with PS4 since I feel so slighted in the PS+ vs XBLGold stuff, I don't want TV integration, and Vita stuff is more promising than Smartglass, to me.
M$ made a lot of good 180s, but the core strategy of being a "One" device vs a game console is where the line is drawn and decided upon for me.
Thu Aug 15, 2013 3:10 pm
I agree. No device does everything the way that a standalone device can do.

I've already pre-ordered a PS4 and as it is I missed the date for being assured of getting it on launch day, so I'm not changing my mind now. It's good to see that Microsoft has backtracked on a lot of the things that alienated the consumer; perhaps it'll win some people back and for those who were still leaning towards the Xbox One anyway, it'll reward their trust in the brand. Me personally, I've already made my choice and I'm happy with it.

to be honest, i was going ps4 even before they announced the system. microsoft had to sell me, they had to change my mind and they pretty much did everything they could not confirm i should stick with sony.
Fri Aug 16, 2013 11:33 pm
Makes me wonder,
What were M$ thinking? E3 pretty much cost them a lead. Now they're behind in the race by huge margin. WiiU probably are happy now looking to take over #2.
