NBA 2k8 Preview Thread

Yeah, especially his nose. If you look at the picture of him in The X's 2K6 dynasty, he looks A LOT better, and in 2K7 he is one of the best looking player models.

Now... he looks horrible, but at least the rest of his body look nice.

Okay, let's take a look. Chris Paul in my 2k6 Association:

Rookie Chris Paul was giving Steve Nash fits defensively all night long, however he's not the first to do so



Are we looking at the Hornets' newest face of the franchise? Not since LJ & Zo joined them, have the Hornets had such a highly rated youngster

Now we take a look at my Bobcats' 2k7 Association:

I guess Tracy McGrady must be getting used to handling the NBA's new sticky balls by now


The Bobcats hope to add a few championship banners to their rafters


What the heck does a bear have to do with the Rockets?!? At least the cheerleaders are hotter this year


The 2006/07 Charlotte Bobcats. Matt Carroll looks pretty pale, it's probably how I'd look in tangerine too.


'Go The Mo'. That's the latest catch phrase going around in Charlotte.


I knew scouts said Jameer Nelson was too undersized to be effective as a starting PG, but I didn't realise he was that short. And how about Mo'rrison, wouldn't you like him to stalking your daughter or sister.


Back to ball, Wallace provided many highlights over the first 2 months of the season, including this postering of little Jameer.

Judging by all the pics, not much difference between 2k6 & 2k7, but 2k8 looks like a huge step up graphically for the 2k series. They seem to finally be going next gen. I love everything in that 2k8 Chris Paul pic except for his face, which is just way off. If they work their arses off on the faces, this game will be hopefully look as good as it plays.

I really like the atmosphere of the contest and use of props, but I prefer how NBA Live's contest is integrated into All-Star Weekend.

By the way, is that bar that showed up next to the dunker for timing it?

How about instead of bashing 2k and making it seem like Live has the greatest graphics on earth, why dont you show the acutal screenshots instead of all the rendered screenshots that were released...

Example:




Anyone can post a rendered screenshot and say wow that looks awesome but Lets be honest, those dont look that great, or that good. That almost looks like last gen. Until I see actual gameplay player models and faces im not gonna judge but based on the video that 2k released: Player Models, Cloth Physics, Animations = 2k.

wow that looks tons better then nba lives version. I didnt see any unrealistic double flips in there. It was also cool how he steped over the guy after knocking him over. They could have been lazy and just had him go right through him.

Even though the X is switching to the PS3, those were both from the 360 version.

In my opinion, 2K7 looks WAY better close up. In gameplay you can't really notice the textures, but when you do close up in replay it looks stunning. It makes me really wish I had a better Tv and digital camera for pictures.

Honestly 2K has a decent game, it has looked good because live sucked, and i am anything but impressed by the lack of progress since 2K6. What have they done since 2K6, 2K7 was 2K6 with more bugs.

the graphics are so damn bad for this game its unreal. the players look like they are made out of the same material they make real dolls out of it. also i cant believe they let ign post that pic of shaq with his arm going through his jersey like that, looks terrible. the eyes kinda creep me out also lol

2K has always looked better in motion, even in years where Live has had better player models while not moving. Those Live trailers have the same base animations I've seen for five years.

2k's faces are still incredibly weak, but they automatically win on the dunk contest for 2 reasons:
