The Walking Dead Thread

Tue Oct 25, 2011 1:09 am

Anyone keeping up with the new season? If not, I definitely recommend picking it up; it's only 8 episodes in and it's still a great show even if you're not into the whole zombie apocalypse thing. I'm still on the last episode of the first season but I've been busy with school lately.

For those to lazy to wiki the premise it's essentially about a man who wakes up from a coma to find out that zombies have taken over the world and trying to survive as the characters of the show struggle to hold on to their humanity. Fun stuff.

The comics are a fantastic read too if you're the kind of guy who can't sit around and wait for what happens next in the story (or if you just like reading comics in general). I'm like 20 issues behind the comic too, with about 80+ issues in total for the series.

i thought season 1 (all 6 episodes) were a bit more exciting as the action picks up big time when they have to go into the city, but in season 2 it's a little slower and also they don't focus on the asian dude

The first season had the developer of the show, Frank Darabont as the show runner but they fired him after feuds over funds (Mad Men's cast is absurdly expensive) so now it's under new management. This season, they have $4.8 mil for 13 episodes, as opposed to $5.3 for 6 last year, so I'd expect more indoor scenes and less overall action, in addition to different (hopefully better) writing.

The protagonist and the Asian guy are the only likable characters (and maybe the guy that looks like Zach Randolph), but this show is nonetheless pretty good.

that's sad that they had to cut corners like that to save money. even the zombies look a bit cheaper too.

Kinda late on the action here, but I just started to watch that show after hearing my boss rave about it, and it's pretty damn awesome. I'm only a few episodes into season 2 right now and it's certainly a different pacing compared to season 1, not quite as epic, but quite good nonetheless. I heard that the season finale last week was pretty badass too, I just need to catch up first.

The series is also being made into an episodic video game by Telltale, the developer that made the Sam & Max series, as well as the Back To The Future episodes last year. Here's the first trailer:

The first half of season 2 was pretty bad I thought, but it started to get good again when it came back. Thank god they're off the farm, though I'm not sure if I like the plot twists and where the show is going.

I agree, I was warned that the first half of season 2 was much slower paced, with far less walker encounters and much more chit-chat, and I would say that at least two episodes could have been pretty much skipped altogether. However, I gotta admit that for dramatic effect, making 5-6 episodes where the little girl is missing and everyone's looking for her, to eventually find out that she was right under the group's nose, already zombified, that was pretty fucking genius (even if somewhat predictable).

i thought they could've condensed season 2 so that the finale couldve been the midseason finale. there was a lot of filler episodes

Yup,the first half of season 2 was pretty dull.It was kind of pushing me away. The only reason i continued watching was becausei knew somebody was going to get killed.I did not expect Shane and Dale to get the axe so soon.I seriously thought T-Dog was going to go.And damn you gotta love Lauren Cohan a.k.a Maggie.

At least there will be 16 episodes next season.

I don't see any official date but I'm assuming that it should be similar that what they did last year (Oct 25 I believe). Can't wait for season 3.

This hasn't been bumped for a little while, but episode 4 was just too good not to post anything about it.
Season 4 has been pretty damn solid so far, with much better pacing than the previous season. With episode 3 being mainly focused on the 'side story', you could tell something big was gonna happen with the main group, and it didn't disappoint...

This season has been far better than the last one. A lot more entertaining.

That's for sure, last season certainly had some pretty dramatic moments, but it felt like it was dragging way more than the 1st season (and not just because it had double the episodes).
From the sneak peek at next episode, I'm pretty sure that Carol was actually bit and will turn with only Carl and the old dude to protect the rest of the group. Should be entertaining.

Why is this show also postponed till February? I'm waiting for the season to end before watching, now I gotta wait an extra 2 months.

Fake seasons. Either that or they have to wait for the money from the first half in order to actually finish the filming. I don't understand when this half season crap started, but it's annoying.

i hate this show. they save the episodes for the sweeps months in nov and feb. and they stretch out the story, it's just one big long cocktease.
