Luther Vandross Dies at the age of 55

Grammy award winner Luther Vandross, whose deep, lush voice on hits like "Here and Now" and "Any Love" sold more than 25 million albums while providing the romantic backdrop for millions of couples worldwide, died Friday. He was 54.

Vandross died at 1:47 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, N.J., said hospital spokesman Rob Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh did not release the cause of death.

Truly, truly sad day in American music. The modern era king of R&B is gone. This hit me like a ton of bricks.

I really love his songs like, "Dance with my Father Again", "I'd Rather"

It's just too sad he passed away.

Yea, it was a shock to me that he died because I knew he was battling from strokes, but I didn't expect him to die so soon, I thought he was going to possibly make a comeback. RIP Luther
