I've never really had any problems with muggings... that being said I'm reasonably physically intimidating, although if there was a big group of people I have no doubt they'd kick the shit out of me.
Most of the people around here act all tough (special handshakes, yelling alot, pointing in the air when a car goes past

) but they're deep down just scared little kids who would run as soon as anyone fought back. In England everyone wanted to be my best friend as soon as they found out I was Australian, it was weird. There'd be times where people were threatening me or whatever, then I'd come out with "shut up dipshit you're not gonna do anything" and they'd be like "Dude are you Australian? That's fucking awesome!" etc. No doubt I avoided many beatings due to that.
I'm never scared going out anywhere though, to be completely honest I kind of enjoy the danger factor alot of the time... one time on New Years Eve I was with my Dad, and his girlfriend called panicking because there was someone in the backyard with some sort of weapon. So we go back to the house, first thing I do is pick up a plank of wood and run out there looking lol... I'm an idiot, and no doubt one day I'll get my head kicked in but I really do enjoy being in dangerous situations.
