For what it's worth, the delay also avoids a possible clash with GTA V.

Gerstmann says this game looks awesome, the trailer doesn't really sell it.

Also, old news that never got posted here really. Viacom is basically funding this game entirely with Trey and Matt overseeing it. So it and Obsidian are mostly immune from the publishers and the change from THQ to Ubi. The latter are just the folks putting it in stores.

I saw a few years back, well before this, something where Trey and Matt said they had learned their lesson from licensing out the franchise for the N64 shooter, the cart game and the trivia game. And picking Obsidian to helm the game is part of this.

Via the Ubisoft blog, a quote from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone: "We always wanted the game to feel like you're actually in an episode of South Park. Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we're excited to say it's taken way longer than we thought it would."

That's a shame, but hopefully it all turns out for the best.

AT least there's some gameplay available. It's like an episode :applaud:

That does look awesome. We've sure come a long way since that mediocre FPS on the N64. (Y)

Considering the other awesome FPS that were available (for me it was Goldeneye and Perfect Dark), I still had a ton of game with that SP game. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread. Funny thing -- I haven't enjoyed a single FPS since the N64. I am totally turned off by the entire genre anymore.

There was some novelty in it, but I found it wore off fairly quickly.

GMG is currently offering 20% off selected pre-order titles, one of them being The Stick of Truth. Figured I might as well take advantage of it, let's see how it pans out come March.

So is anyone ugh, already playing this game? I've already seen reviews flying around and was wondering if anyone here has already played the game

I started playing it tonight. It's been pretty fun so far, and it has some amusing references with some of the items you pick up. I really like the turn-based fighting system as well. It's pretty easy to pick up.

It froze during one of the loading screens, so I'm really hoping it auto-saves. Otherwise, I could see myself going back to GTA V pretty quickly.

Really good reviews so far. On Metacritic the PC user score is 8.7 based on 288 ratings.

Got my Steam key a couple of days ago, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. One of my friends has been playing it though and is really liking it so far.

Really fun and relaxing game. As Kenny said already, has lots of amusing and funny references in its several quests and items. The fighting system has a decent amount of strategy to keep you interested. Still only about 100 minutes into the game (with lots of exploring the environment) and is definitely keeping my curiosity up.

Just finished the main story. Overall, the game has exceeded my expectations. Despite a few rage-quit-worthy parts (The part where you face Jimmy was a pain. When you lost to him, you have to go back and fight the previous fight.), it was an enjoyable experience. I would recommend stocking up on Speed potions. You can't go wrong with two-for-one attacks, and they're generally pretty cheap too.

And surprisingly, Butters is actually quite a badass fighter in the game
(His Professor Chaos move is amazing.)

I'm a few hours into the game and am definitely enjoying it. As you guys have said, the humour and references really make the game, and they've done a superb job of capturing the look and feel of a real episode of South Park.
