it hides the "flaws" of the textures that you see closeup in first person. i have no problems with the graphics though.

You have a 360 or other dual analog controller?

Heard the analog combat is where it really shines, but it's locked if you use the mouse.

i started with the digital combat on my PS3, but tapping R1 to fight started to bore me so i changed it to analog and even though it's a bit trickier, it is a bit more fun. and it gets really funny when i get mobbed and i resort to stick waggling to try to fend them off

I have a dual analog controller but I haven't tried it with this game yet, I'm pretty satisfied with the mouse for now.

For the PC version, there's a quick fix on the Steam forums for those like me who want to change the FOV. The default 62.5 is ridiculously low, but it looks like changing it to the classic 90 results in weird visuals at times, so I'm gonna try with 80 first.

That has to be the perfect game for my brother. Huge fan of Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, Call of Duty Zombie extras...

Getting more playtime through that game and it is really is fun. A bunch of the initial issues on PC have been fixed, like the mouse lag in the menus, the low FoV, or the less than realistic dust/fog effects (the Dead Island Helper tool is quite helpful in that regard), so now it can be fully enjoyed. It especially gets fun when you start getting cleavers and hatchets and that limbs start flying around...

stopped playing on ps3 since it doesnt save correctly (an issue with the ps3 version) so im gonna play my roommate's PC version and sell my ps3 version on ebay. ive seriously lost 6 to 8 hours of gameplay in total and im sick of it

The save system is really fucked on PC as well. I can't believe that an open world game like that would not have a quicksave system but a crappy checkpoint one.

well on ps3 even when you make it past several checkpoints/savepoints, it still wouldnt actually save, so you make 4 hours of progress in the game but it only saves 1.

Really love the game, it gets much better when you start getting real firearms and stuff, but screw that stupid checkpoint system...Yesterday, I launched the game and spawned in an area that I had not even discovered before. Not only a different place but a different map altogether!
This is beyond me how this kind of saving system could be used for such a game, it really ruins the experience because you never know where you'll reappear the next time you load the game, or if you'll still have all your inventory and the same current quests...

after the updates, my game's save is working ok now. i can't say i love it. feels like dead rising 3.

It was pretty damn good. I kinda wanted to finish it for good towards the end, grew a little tired of it, but it certainly gave me hours of zombie-slashing fun.
