NBA 2k6 cover will be SHAQ:

NBA 2K6 offers Shaq
[ In connection with... ]

This year, it is the superstar Shaquille O' Neal which will appear on the small pocket of play NBA 2K6 . A partnership with which Take Two Interactive is pleased naturally since the prize list of the Diesel and its power will be able to inflate the popularity of the title near the amateurs of tennis shoe. Moreover, O' Neal would have even taken part in the development of the title for certain aspects of the gameplay with new styles of plays which will take as a starting point its very offensive play. It is what one will thus call an ally of weight for the principal rival of NBA Live 2006 . Exit planned for the end September in the USA, on PS2 and Xbox, and a little later on Xbox 360.

Funny how the two players gracing the covers of the two biggest basketball games are on the same team.

I'm laughing.

I'm rolling the ground laughing my ass off as we speak.. oops.. just pissed my pants.. har har har har lol.

2k6 is gonna blow man..

Would you ladies care to offer some insight instead of giving one-line insults, knowing you'll receive support from 99% of the forum seeing that we are where we are?

Tue Aug 16, 2005 9:18 am

I already explained in another thread but... there's not much excitement and the players look like shiny dolls. Happy? :D

I think 2K6 will be miles better than Live. Look at what info they're releasing. Shit, I mean even 2K has some sort of new Freestyle Superstar thing but they're not pushing that in EVERY single interview. They've also updated their dynasty mode, but so did Live... YOU CAN HIRE COACHES!@?!?@!?

I'm looking forward to 2k6 alot more than live this year, although I will be getting both games. Live has been disapointing for 3 straight years, and they do nothing for this community, so I owe them nothing in terms of loyalty.

Each individual player also has his own AI tendencies programmed into him so he'll play like his real life counterpart. Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire will execute that high pick and roll in the circle. Rip Hamilton will spend all day running off of staggered screens and curling off the last pick to get his mid-range shot off. Shaq will make his living in the paint, while Tim Duncan may spend at least some time out at the elbow area for his patented long bank shots. In our brief time looking at the game, it was difficult for us to say how effective the developers have been at getting this down, but you will at least be able to make adjustments to individual player AI. We took a peek at Dwyane Wade's AI sliders and found his drive tendency is set to 90, mid-range shot set to 80, and his 3-point shooting tendency set to a conservative 10, just as you'd expect.

All hail 2K6 and the addition of Player Tendency Sliders, if Live doesn't add this, it could be the game changing factor. The only area Live will be able to win is in Dynasty, but 2K's Association seems to be picking it up.

Player Tendencies is basically what makes gameplay, and with 2k being superior in graphics, if they can get the animations down, I don't know what to say.

Personally I thought 2K's Association mode was better than Live's Dynasty mode, and they've actually shown us what updates they've made to it while Live has announced the ability to hire coaches... I think 2K could blow Live out of the water.

Amen. Too bad I'm a loyal PC user, so I'm still stuck with Live and I might have to bitch again for another year. Then the cycle repeats the following year. :?

Folks, NBA Live is in for some serious competition this year.

so if you do something nutty like trade away Shaq for Lamar Odom and a bunch of stiffs, you can expect that the amount of money you take in from merchandising will take a hit. Each player in the game will have a specific rating for marketability.

Yea, they just had to do it

You know 2k basketball seems like it will have a lot of features that I always wanted in a basketball game.
- More shot selection (shot stick)
- No turbo abuse
- Lead pass (quite important I think)
- Not too reliant on tricks? But that remains to be seen...
- Dynasty mode with chemistry as an important factor

I think now I'm am around 90% sure I will buy both games...first see the reviews though..
Compared to the tiny change done to live, 2k series is impressing me more and more..

Wed Aug 17, 2005 10:40 pm

Well 2K added a lot of people to their team, their NFL guys, and the College Hoop guy. College Hoops the past 2 years has been the best basketball game out there, so it's understandable that NBA get's a lot better with the addition of Rob Jones.

It seems like the more updates I get for these games, the more dissapointed I get:

http://www.2ksports.com/games/nba2k6/

The animations are just not very good. The graphics are nice, but NBA 2K has just not been there with animations. The passing is still weak, the overhead pass to a guy 1 foot in front of you is still there :x.

I also didn't like how some passes went through players a little too much, the special pass is what I'm really reffering to, unless it was just the angle.

The triple threat still looks bad, and how the players catch and hold the ball is still bad, why can't they just let us control everything. I don't want the comp doing triple threat for me, or that annoying thing where players put the ball through their legs every 5 secs. Everyone still has the same jumpshot motion, and the alley-oop pass, ahh, the alley-oop pass, what's with that?

Anyways, it's still a good showing though, but those things better be fixed in 360. I'm not that hyped for the ball games anymore lol

Here's something on NHL 2K6:

Mats Sundin will be on the cover in Canada and Europe.

Here is another preview:

http://microsoft.gamerfeed.com/gf/previews/484/

it doesn't say anythin really new except for this:

Another neat feature that the latest NBA 2K game has to offer is called The Crib, and it adds another layer of personality to the product. This basically gives you your own private quarters to design to your liking, and the ability to "deck it out" with a number of items each time you score a victory. The Crib also gives you the chance to check out several new mini-games being implemented into the product, as well as the chance to buy some bonus tunes so you can chill out between rounds of b-ball.

I am definitely getting this game , nothing is going to stop me , and for the first time ever , i migh actually BUY a live game , instead of stealing it from my cousin.

Sat Aug 27, 2005 8:55 am

Check out www.2ksports.com and check out the new dribbling videos, man i think the new ball handling moves look better in nba 2k6 then they do in live.

Although live does give you more control (that is live 06) but from looking at what i'm seeing in nba 2k6 we might have a new champ. i don't know what to expect from this year's crop of b-ball games but it looks hot.

Sat Aug 27, 2005 1:48 pm

2k games have always been underated . i liked the nfl 2k series more then madden , but now madden is the only damn nfl game out there :x . it doesn't matter though im still impressed with madden.

Exactly. EA hasn't done sh!t with Live or Madden the past few years. They expect us to blindly plunk down $50 every year for the same crap - not me, brother. I'd definitely go with 2K, plus you can import draft classes. Live will take a big hit this year, IMO.

Tue Aug 30, 2005 11:21 am

:eh: That could actually be a great idea. Having a "losing" year, so they could put some effort next year :P
