Arrested Development

Postby Doobie on Sun Jul 04, 2010 1:38 pm

Have all 3 seasons on netflix instant streaming. This is one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. I have 2 episodes left in the first season ( Started watching yesterday and have gone through 20 episodes already, finishing it up tonight.) This show is just flat out hilarious. Hope the movie actually goes through. Anyone else a fan of this show?

I am sad it's cancelled by the way, I'm thinking about taking my time through the next 2 seasons so it could last.

Agreed on it being one of the best shows ever. Every character is well written and hysterical. My personal faves being Gob and Lucille.

No, it was only the first show I recommended to you a year and a half ago and are the only DVD sets I own.

I don't trust people who don't like Arrested Development. (Or people who haven't watched the first season of Justified.)

Finished the whole series last night... I'm sad now. Should've taken more time watching it. I seriously have to say it is the greatest comedy show I've ever watched.

Definitely my favorite tv show of all time. They have been talking about making a movie since the show was canceled but nothing has happened yet. A friend of mine said Jason Bateman was in an interview and said something about how the movie isn't dead and they are still writing the script.

Gob is my favorite character in the show.

Michael: "I think what your feeling is love."

Gob: "I know what an erection feels like, Michael."

First 2-3 episodes were terrible, but then they hit their stride. Still wasn't as good as the original three seasons, but it was highly satisfying to see the Bluths again.

Yeah, George Michael is at UC-Irvine.

I only watched the first one so far and I kinda don't care for the character-centric nature of it. Someone should recut it into chronological order with all the other parts so it seems more like the original episodes.

I thought they were going to do it as a sort of recap for the main characters and then stop and go back to how the show was, alas it seems it's one character each time. Can't say I like it. Figured maybe 5 episodes or so of it but it seems the entire season is this way.

Should've left it dead. (N)

Is there some reason the different format makes it not funny? I was pretty damn entertained by it.

Too much focus on the one character, too much narration and too little interaction between the characters. At least that's how I feel, it all feels very disjointed.

I've actually been enjoying these. While the one-character format certainly isn't as good, and the episodes are a little too long, it's been worth watching. The first Gob episode was hilarious.

I've enjoyed what I've watched so far, I mean let's be honest the third season of Arrested was pretty fucking stupid compared to the first two as well. And I'm fine with that because it still has the same humor even if you're like "what the fuck" half the time.

I think the reason they seem so much longer, even discounting the longer running times, are because of the one-character focus. Feels like an hour long at times. You used to have Michael's whatever he has to do to fix or avoid Lucielle/GOB/Lindsay's problems and you could cut away to Tobias in his latest gag or Maybe at the movie studio for a minute or two. Now you're just kinda sticking with one long unbroken plot thread, which is why I said I would be interested to see it recut and if it works a lot better for the people who are so disappointed and in general.
