Reported by Woj:
Denver has agreed to a deal to send guard Ty Lawson to Houston, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
It remains to be seen what or whom they'll receive in return, but presumably it'll be a little better than flat out cutting him.
EDIT: Actually,
that's just been reported too:
Sources: As part of deal for Ty Lawson, Houston will send Kostas, Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson and a protected first to Denver.

1 for 5.

Gave up almost nothing for a good PG. This is another steal.
Morey is a God

Well shit, good job Houston, but we'll see how Lawson fits with The Beard and Howard
Mon Jul 20, 2015 2:07 pm
Really nice trade for Houston.

Great deal for both. Denver got rid of troublemaker, and Houston now has even better team. Harder, Howard, Lawson, new big 3.
It would be nice if Denver trades Gallinari as well.

Denver is the ultimate role player team!
On paper Houston got a good deal but don't forget that Lawson has a court case to come and from what I read on the case Ty was banned from drinking from his LAST dui case so he may end up with so minor jail time.

Wow. The Rockets lowballed the Nuggets and it worked. Lawson with Harden will be interesting because Harden is Kobe type of player who can eradicate point of having a PG because handles the ball whole a lot. Otherwise Lawson is more than simply a good PG, he's somewhere in between great and good imho. This experiment for the Rockets could pay huge dividends. Another Western team yet gets a good boost this offseason. Very interesting.
Also it looks like Patrick Beverley takes a hit and Mudiay gets the team. For a rookie to be in this situation, he has a lot to live up to.

Will Beverley start in this scenario? Or will it be Lawson?
Tue Jul 21, 2015 4:21 pm
I'm guessing Lawson, though it could be a situation where we see the starter on opening night coming off the bench by the end of the season, depending on who plays better with the reserves.

Wouldn't that be applicable only in Colorado? Let's say league won't give him an ultimatum (face charges or be banned), he could simply not play in Denver. Would be funny if this was the case and Rockets faced Nuggets in playoffs.

I see what you did there lol

Lawson has reportedly agreed to make the last year on his deal non-guaranteed, so if there is further incident, the Rockets can cut ties with him after this season without being on the hook to pay him for the 2017 season.

Nuggets president Josh Kroenke details team’s troubled relationship with Ty LawsonDenver Nuggets president Josh Kroenke provided some interesting insight into the team’s troubled relationship with Ty Lawson, but emphasized the organization is rooting for the recently traded point guard to succeed.
Kroenke told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday in a phone interview that the Nuggets had been privately trying to help Lawson with his issues for “the past couple of years” and that there had been problems for a long time.
Kroenke said he had repeated conversations with Lawson about his “life struggles,” adding that Lawson often said he would attempt to fix his issues but he could “never fully shake them.”
“He always had an affinity for burning the candle at both ends,” Kroenke said. “We want to give our players freedom to be young guys as well. We’re not going to be drill sergeants. But we want our guys to be able to handle their personal lives on their own.
“Ty … there were times when he was better than others. But the problems have been there for several years, going back to when we were having a lot of on-court success. I don’t want to go back too far. There were just a lot of times where you were at practice and you just know. You could smell it. You know there is probably deeper issues than he would probably let on.”

Damn, how did Morey do that?
Wed Jul 22, 2015 6:27 pm
Apparently, it was the only way the Rockets would agree to the trade. Lawson was supposedly keen to join them, and probably understands their position and need to create goodwill, so he agreed to it.

Confirmed, Morey is a God. Also keeps Houston in the hunt for next year's bonanza.
Wed Jul 22, 2015 8:20 pm
It was a wise move on his part, but in all fairness, he had some leverage. Denver wanted to get the deal done, and Lawson probably realises that he's running out of chances and needs to show that goodwill. As per that article, there apparently wasn't a whole lot of interest in him, due to his issues.

If he can still average 9 APG while being drunk, I wonder what will his average be when he's in a fine condition.

There are people getting their jobs done better while under influence though...

If he does have a real drinking problem and was putting up those numbers drunk then they won't go up sober they will down as alcohol dependence affects the brain in so many ways he will have to learn to play without it.

I've deleted it, obviously, but it's good to know that even spambots care about Ty Lawson's career, health, and general well-being.

Damn it! The SW Div is getting better and better except for the Mavs

This is a very interesting season for the Rockets with lots of long term implications. What do they do with restricted FA's Jones and Motiejunas? Do they want to keep Howard after this season?
