Very nice pickup by the Nuggets....Voshon showed that he can play and score some points while Carter was away, The Nugs had a very very nice offseason.....And also a chance to bring in a solid F/C in Kemp who can rebound is nice aswell....check NBA.com on the Kemp thing

Good move by the Nuggets with Lenard

I don't know about signing Kemp though. The guy is close to retiring and also has some drug-related issues. However, he does have enough experience to teach the younger players and play solid minutes.

These comments are really disappointing because Shawn Kemp used to be my favorite NBA player at one time. It's sad to see what's become of guy who had the potential to be the best power forward of all time.

i feel really sorry for kemp, whe he entered the league i really thought that he is gonna be 1 of the best players in the league
Fri Sep 12, 2003 11:01 am
You thought right, he was one of the best. Just not anymore...
He's not THAT bad. He can still be a good backup/starting center or power forward. 6 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes isn't too bad. He's just old now. He's one of the few guys in this league now who played in the eighties. He certainly can still do something, just not what he once could do due to his drug abuse and age.

Shawn Kemp was the only player who gave Hakeem Olajuwon problems when both players were in their primes. Hakeem always played very well against other great post players like Karl Malone, Shaq, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, etc. However, he almost always struggled against the Kemp and the Sonics.

true... kemp in his sonics days gave pretty much everyone problems, with the exception of deke.
amare's rookie year gave me flashbacks of a young kemp.
btw- sonics vs rockets playoff game is on espn classic right now

Kemp seeks spot with Nuggets
He'll never be the Reignman again, but as gloveguy said he can still be a good centre/power forward whether he starts or comes off the bench. He can still contribute.
Also, good pickup by the Nuggets in Voshon Lenard. He should find his way into the starting lineup immediately (unless the Nuggets feel Jon Barry or Rodney White are more suitable for the starting job

).

Yep, game 3 of the 96 Conference Finals between the Sonics and Rockets. This was a disappointing series (Rockets got swept and thier regin as NBA champs ended) but this game was good, Houston made a valient comeback but didn't have enough. That's why they trade for Sir Charles in the offseason and beat Seattle the following year in 7 games.

Shawn just had the problem that stunted guys like Vin Baker and Isiah Rider...maybe not to Riders extent but they was lazy and Kemp just got into some...extra curricular activities

Yes, keep it going Nuggets!!
Camby(if stays healthy)
Hilario
Anthony
Lenard
Miller
with Kemp,Barry,White,Yarbrough and Harvey(next dennis rodman??) and a few others off the bench.
nice young lineup(with the exception of lenard and camby, camby is almost 30 now)
Sat Sep 13, 2003 12:43 am
That's a nice roster. I'd say Nene would play Center and Camby would play PF though.
Sat Sep 13, 2003 1:07 am
Nice additions to the Nuggos! but if someone sees that Shawn Kemp is selling/giving drugs to Skeeta and Nene then relase Kemp from the roster! J/K
I think Kemp can teach something to Skeeta and Nene.+help in rebounding.

kemp was playing alright/respectably until he got dealt to portland and lost all the minutes he was used to.

Denver lost to the Jazz in the second round in 1994 in seven games. Houston also defeated Phoenix in seven games that year.
