Summer League Standouts

If i had to pick a All-Summer League Team thing out of this i would pick these 5:

LeBron James
Dwyane Wade
Carlos Boozer
Darius Miles
Tayshaun Prince

Considered:
Keith Bogans
Caron Butler

I'd like to see Lenny Cooke get some time this summer with the Celtics. He got a DNP -- Coach's Decision yesterday against Lebron's team.

Dwyane Wade seems to be a promising player. I thought he would be the next Shawn Respert... Instead he's making me look like a fool (I know I am)... He's making the transition from college SG to NBA PG seem effortlessly... Guess we shall see a good season turnaround for the Heat, specially if they manage to get Elton Brand away from the Clippers and get Jones and Grant motivated & heathly.

Proposed Heat lineup:

Brian Grant
Elton Brand
Caron Butler
Eddie Jones
Dwyane Wade

Playoff material for me... specially in the wacky East.

I got some summerleague stats from hoopshype.

League Leaders:

Points:
Ricky Davis 43.0
Tracy Murray 35.0
Bo Outlaw 31.4
Qyntel Woods 28.0
Jaha Wilson 27.8

Rebounds:
Tracy Murray 11.5
Cedrick Suitt 10.8
Bo Outlaw 9.0
Carlos Boozer 8.9
Jaha Wilson 8.8

Assists:
Anfernee Hardaway 8.2
Mateen Cleaves 7.3
Darrick Martin 7.3
Terr. Green 7.3
Bo Outlaw 7.1

Blocks:
Cedrick Suitt 5.4
Bo Outlaw 3.3
DeSegana Diop 2.9
Chris Anderson 2.3
Etan Thomas 2.3

How's that, huh? Bo Outlaw is in all 4 top 5s! (31.4 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 7.1 APG, 3.3 BPG) I don't know how many games he's played but he's obviously dominated all of them. That's MVP material right there. :o Imagine he played with half of these stats in NBA. Maybe with the right amount of minutes he can? It's about time for a breakout season Bo! Who is Credrick Suitt? He's got 10.8 rebounds and 5.4 BPG. Who is Jaha Wilson? 27.8 points and 8.8 rebounds. Tracy Murray suprising, 35.0 points and 11.5 rebounds. Darrick Martin...hehehe. ;)

stats from http://hoopshype.com/.

Perhaps we'll see Bo starting alongside Amare rather than playing behind him.

Qyntel Woods housed the competition in the Rocky Mountain Revue, averaging 28.0 PPG on 50.6 percent shooting, and earning MVP honors. ESPN.com's Marc Spears actually wrote an article about it, suggesting Woods may see more playing time next year, especially with Scottie Pippen heading back to the Bulls.

Bo will get lesser minutes this year, than last year.Phoenix has Googs,Voshkul,Tsakaldis,Amare,Bo and a draft pick Zaza (on nba.com were said that Zaza and Amare would be the next "TWIN TOWERS" so if Bo wouldnt move to sf,he wouldnt get any minutes....

Bo was getting more minutes than Googs though. For someone the Suns were coveting a few years ago when he was a free agent, he's certainly no longer a vital part of their plans.

well Googs was injured last year and when he came back Bo was playing greatly and why would you give him fewer minutes?

Agree about quintel woods, he played great from what i've heard, and for bo to dominate like that, he still got some unfinished business then :)

anyone- what position does woods play? or what position do the blazers expect him to play??

lonny baxter's been playing pretty well. i think he received some accolade in one of them summer leagues. too bad he's stuck behind fizer & marshall on the depth chart, this guy's pretty solid

He's a lot like Tracy McGrady from what I've heard. He's a swingman. SLAM did a great article on him before last years draft. It's a shame he got bench splinters on the Blazers.

thanks, glove. i had heard this guy has pretty good pg guard skills as well. i was thinking with their pg problems, portland may try him at the point forward role. but what do i know? i barely got to see this guy play and have only seen him dunking in highlights

As much as i would love that. Amare can't play Center, especially in the west. unless you were thinking something else. maybe marion could move down?

C-Tsakalidis
PF-Amare
SF-Bo
SG-Marion
PG-Marbury

Meh, doesn't looks very good. Bo is good off the bench anywho.

Who the heck is Zaza? I think you mean Zarko.

If Amare doesn't play center, and Zarko plays SF/PF (he is a nowitzki like player) then who plays center? Tsak? Hmm...don't like it, Suns should try trade for a center...

maybe the suns oughta go back to lottery next year and get a decent C....nbadraft.net predicts about 4-5 decent Centers in the lottery...

umm... that wouldn't be the starting line up. What about Anfernee Hardaway? He still has a few good years left in him. Remind you, he did get triple double this last season

I never thought of Outlaw and Hardway as Summer Leage type players. These guys are vets. Why are they playing in the summer league? Usually, the league is for players to develop more or second round/undrafted rookies to try and get signed or something. What do Outlaw and Penny have to prove?

some vets do it to prove to the team they are on that they are stil good and deserve minutes, but penny gets quite a bit of minutes

and joe johnson is pretty good too........ i dont think bo will start if only for the fact that he is a bit older and they'd rather develop the others. he's like the energy guy off the bench.

qyntel woods is bascially a small forward who can play guard if needed. he's long and athletic...... the next jermain o'neal?
