Damon Stoudamire's fall

Tue Jul 08, 2003 3:59 pm

Once a promising player back in 1996... ROY with 18 ppg and 9 apg, plus 4 rpg... The year after he averaged 20 ppg and 8 apg... Then got traded for the Blazers... And disappeared off the radar... Yesterday was found with marijuana, trying to get a plane to New Orleans... The metal detector got him and stuff...

What's goin' on with guy? :?

Like Isaiah Rider, it's anyone's guess. You would think that getting criminal charges would encourage the average person no matter who they are to avoid repeating such behaviour. But we know that just isn't the case.

Damon has fallen out of favour, partly due to a less than impressive work ethic. He got a big payday in 1998, so I guess he's one of those guys who only produces a career year when it's time to renew his contract. On the other hand, he might simply be unhappy in Portland and looking to get out. With the right attitude, he could probably revive his career if given the opportunity to move on.

Damon Stoudamire does lack a good amount of playing time for a player who has proven he can be very good, but let's not forget Portland has 2 other starting PG's! and Gary Payton has Portland on his list too!

maurice is a good coach...he knew that if damon is starting they cannot win so much games as they did!if damon was starting they were barely .500% team (maybe even barely .400%)and when scottie moved to pg they started to win!

damon's a fool- i had heard he wrapped 1.5 oz of weed in aluminum foil, in hopes of getting it passed the metal detector. perhaps he smoked the the other half oz before he got to the airport. perhaps portland will looking for a pg now this offseason

Like Dr. Seth said on .org, it's worthy of a Darwin Award.

iam really really gutted

D-Stoud was and is still one of my favourite players and to see him go out this way just god damm hurts me.
it is clear in my mind that he wants out of portland and as Andrew pointed out he COULD get not only his career but his life back on track in a different nba city overwise he's just gonna end up as the next Ron Tarpley.
