In any sport, there are players who always performed at a high level each and every night. But then they got / get traded to a bad team, and thus somewhat, are forgotten.
Before Kobe became the superstar that he is, or T-Mac? My favorite player in the whole world was Eddie Jones! I've know him since he was at temple back in 1994, I was only around 9 at the time. When he was with LA in 98 & 99 and part of 2000, he was the man, to me anyways!
These players to me are the players, if given the chance can make an impact to any team trying to contest for a title:
1.) Eddie Jones
2.) Elden Campbell "Who was an all star for one year"
3.) Jahidi White "This guy is tough & plays well"
4.) Vin Baker "If he plays with determination"
5.) Juan Howard
6.) Penny Hardaway
Before the trade deadline last season, the T-wolves had a chance to get Eddie Jones, if they had done that they I felt they would have gone deep into the West.
Do you agree that these players (named above) can still make an impact on a good team contending for a title?
Or do you have any other players in your mind, who are forgotten and can still make an impact?

Penny Hardaway made a difference last season for the suns,
they played well when he was playing, and made it simpler for every1 around him. Had pretty good stats too.

I don't think Vin Baker got much left in him. It's been a while since he has played some decent ball. The other 4 guys could make some impact on some teams. I'd also add Charles Oakley to that list. He still can rebound even at his age and he doesn't get pushed around that much.

Yinka Dare could easily come back and put up great numbers.
But seriously...people that are good, but have been forgotten.
Glenn Robinson - started the season with a few 30 point games, he's gone
Kenny Anderson - I know he's in N-awlins, but doing what?
Glen Rice - He can still shoot, don't know how good he'd still be though

Sadly, no. He was looking good when he was with the Magics but since then, the guy hasn't done much.

like glove guy said, Jimmy Jackson.

Oh my goodness...? I completely forgot about Tom Gugliotta!
This guy was the bomb, when it was him, KG & Stephon Marbury. But I guess people forgot huh?

Some good players that were good often do get traded to a not-so-good or not-so-flashy team and get forgotten. But in terms of still being contributors? Guys like Glen Rice, Tom Gugliotta, and Steve Smith were once all-stars... But now they are reduced to 5 minutes a game and like 2 points (Rice plays more but still only gets 8 points or so...). I'm sorry, but that is no contribution! These players are forgotten for a reason!
And some guys mentioned like Steve Kerr have always only been marginal contribtors at best. Steve Kerr is 5 minutes a game, and all he can do is hit a shot. Granted, he may hit the right ones, but still, he was never an all-star and has no reason to merit attention.
Juwan Howard, Derrick Coleman, Penny Hardaway, Brent Barry, Antonio Davis, it's guys like these who put up around 15 points and a decent amount of rebounds and/or assists that don't get the attention they still deserve.

I agree with you Slam37, well said!
But I feel the one forgotten guy in this league who can make a huge impact (I can't believe I forgot him), is Shawn Kemp! When I watched Orlando play a few games on national tv last season, I saw Kemp play; and despite how fat & heavy he is... he can still rebound, play some "D", and above all: this Kemp can still score, and shoot that 18 to 21 foot jumper.
I mean Kemp has a very good jumper, and with so much weight, he can be an inside presence? Of course he's no Tim Duncan, but he's strong and can score some easy points around the basket... Go Kemp, it's your birthday!

I agree with most of what other people have said, but I have two names add to the list...Alvin Williams and Eric Piatkowski.
I'm surprised that Kemp hasn't lost weight, seeing how many kids he's produced...you'd think he'd get a good work-out.

well, Loy Vaught doesn't play anymore, but back in the day with the Clippers he averaged 20(?) 10 for consecutive seasons and he had a killer baseline J that extended to the 3pt line........until he injured his back
Mon Jul 07, 2003 2:59 am
Ike Austin could still be a solid backup and have a productive 10-15 minutes a game.[/img]

Does he still play on the Harlem Globetrotters?? Well he did a couple of months ago when they played Michigan State. He still had game. Oliver Miller was also on that Globetrotters team, he is still insanely obese....
