Are NBA Players Today Competing On A Harder Level?

Postby MAKAVELI THE DON on Wed Jun 18, 2003 1:01 pm

In one of the posts eariler, I think it's "Dr. Jack No Good. Spurs Good"... I said that the NBA players today are on a higher level (meaning: more talented) and are playing on a harder / difficult level (meaning: whole league / rules / gameplay is tougher) than in the past!

Do you think this is so, or not? State your reason(s)!

P.s.: go easy on me if you think this topic is stupid okay :) ; and you can check my answer or reason(s) in NBA Talk's "Dr. Jack No Good. Spurs Good"

I don't think today's NBA is tougher than it used to be. There's a difference in style - zone defense is allowed these days, and most teams prefer a half-court offense, but as far as the talent level goes, I don't think today's NBA is superior to the NBA of yesteryear.

imho...the league now is way tougher than pre 80's (mid 80's and below). That goes without saying...guys are stronger...more specialized...more rules and the list goes on and on.

As Thug said, I think they play a much tougher game than they used to...The level has been kicked up a notch due to more rules etc. But what I do regret is that istead of players playin for the love of the game (and a ring ofcourse) like they used to back in the day are now playing for MONEY MONEY MONEY...its not the same  .
 Sorry to go offtopic

totally agree, everybody plays at a higher level i think, and not to mention in these times there are much more possibilities to develop your strength, or strengten your weak points like speed, jumping ability and stuff, players also have more individual trainers to get better in my opinion though :) .
