Maybe I'm a victim of the hype, but I voted for LeBron. He's going to be selected by a team that will probably have no trouble handing him the starting job and a lot of minutes. His rookie season will probably be noticeably different to this past year in high school, since there's more scoring options on his team and tougher opponents. And as hard as it is to predict the future with the myriad of possibilities that may occur, both good and bad, if the hype is in any way true, then James is going to be one of this generation's special players.

Lebron James. But i think Melo would also have a great career especially that he would play in a team that in need of offense. As for Darko i don't know.

I voted for Darko because he seemed lonely with no votes.
But actually my vote goes to Lebron (even though I actually voted for Darko) because he just needs to refine his jumper and he is an exceptional player.

I think Lebron James. I'm a believer into this hype. He's gonna be a star in the NBA. He's gonna be like a T-Mac...an all around player. The kid has charisma and skill.
What's scary is this guy is still gonna grow. He could end up being a 7 footer with sweet ball handling skills.
Being a consensus #1...that is a lot of pressure.
Here are some of the past consensus #1 picks:
1992 - Shaq
1996 - Allen Iverson (I believe he was)
1997 - Tim Duncan
Look at the impact these guys have made.

Carmelo, coz he has proved he is a winner.
hes put up great numbers at 18/19 and hes played against guys taller then 6 feet and centres taller than 6'7 6'8.
but i dont think anyone can really judge until they have played in the NBA a year or 2.
lol a little off topic, but Deshawn Stevenson was compared to Michael Jordan, and he had better High School numbers apparentley, so dont be surprised if Bron has a terrible first few years.
Melo will have a better Rookie year aswell.
Bron already has a proven scorer on the team, Ricky Davis, and also look out for Dejaun Wagner this year, also Illy puts up 15-17ppg.
Denver(who im pretty sure will get Melo) has........................................................ummmmmmm.................Hilario??? lol, so Melo will get plenty of scoring oppurtunities, unless Denver sign a good player.
I wish the Cavs would draft Melo

This is all speculation, but from what I've seen and heard, Lebron has an incredible work ethic, top notch athletic ability and he loves the game. I can't see him failing and he will have the best career out of the 3
lol a little off topic, but Deshawn Stevenson was compared to Michael Jordan, and he had better High School numbers apparentley, so dont be surprised if Bron has a terrible first few years.
And Harold Miner was also compared to MJ and he went to college, so just becuase Stevenson skipped college and is struggling doesn't mean Lebron will...

Comparisons get thrown around pretty easily. It seems that anyone who can score or is athletic and around the same size is an "Air Apparent".
Sat May 24, 2003 9:02 pm
well its quite funny.
Lebron isnt compared to Michael, hes compared to Magic
I would prefer to be compared to Magic also, maybe coz i like him better i dont know.
Sat May 24, 2003 9:08 pm
Well, take Penny, supposedly the new Magic (and not just because of his former team's nickname

), primarily because he was a big guard who could play more than one position. Who knows what Penny might have become had he not suffered all those injuries and been reduced to the status of role player. But it's another case of the comparison being made before there is substantial evidence.
Sat May 24, 2003 9:17 pm
yes, but Penny was a lot like Magic in his good years of playing.
had the same court vision, passing ability, could take a game over, leadership. but injuries set him back, he says he could still be the player he was 4 or 5 years ago, but he understands his role on the team.
Sat May 24, 2003 9:29 pm
I realise that, but my point is that all the comparisons and scouting reports are just guesses and predictions, until there's something more substantial to base them on. Comparing DeShawn Stevenson to Michael Jordan was obviously a premature assessment. No matter where you rank Michael Jordan among all the players ever to play in the NBA, it's hard to argue that he had a better first few seasons than DeShawn Stevenson has.

I voted for Lebron.
I guess i'm a sucker for the hype too...oh well!
Go Bron Bron!
p.s. i just realised that, Yohance, your signiture is making all my pages take longer to load...
Mon May 26, 2003 3:54 am
Stevenson was only compared to Michael Jordan in terms of playing style. Nobody said he would become as good as Jordan, just his style resembles Jordan, and in that perspective, the comparison isn't a very inaccurate one.
Now for this vote.. I just have this feeling about Darko
7 footer, could still be growing, good post play... He was the reason I wanted the Raptors to stay in the top 3, not LeBron or Melo (not that I would've been disappointed had we drafted either of those).
Fri Jun 13, 2003 9:28 pm
SUP ALLLLLL!!
im back, got my new comp now.
wassup.
well i hope melo kickas some sweet ass, but i really hope Lebron is more than hype considering the Cavs are drafting him!

Welcome back.
It's safe to say there's some unrealistic expectations being placed on LeBron James, but I doubt he'll be a total failure. His rookie year probably won't show just how good he will become, but I think he could very well be in the Larry Johnson/Jamal Mashburn/Chris Webber class as far as rookie seasons are concerned - he'll post numbers that he should exceed as he continues to develop, but they'll still be good numbers even when compared to established veterans.

I think Darko will have the better career.
1. The Center position is the weakest position in the NBA.
2. He's been playing grown ass men since he was 14
3. He has no pressure
4. He already has an inside and outside game
I've seen video clips of the guy hitting treys like a SG, posting up like a C, and getting back on defense. All of this against 25-30 year old men.
Not high school kids!
