2007-2008 MVP

Mon Feb 18, 2008 3:14 am

The Candidates(In Alphabetical Order):

Chris Paul New Orleans Hornets - The leader of what has been the surprise team of the season by far.Only on his third year,Paul has taken the entire team on his shoulders and led them to one of the top teams in the league recordwise. Paul has been doing it all on both ends of the floor. And should get a lot of recognition for that.

Dirk Nowitzki Dallas Mavericks - The reigning MVP has led his team to another season where they can be counted in as one of the elite teams. His 3p-shooting is down compared to other seasons, but he has played well overall consistently.

Dwight Howard Orlando Magic - Dwight and the Magic came out of the gates at an incredible pace this season, and he blew the league out when it came to early season MVP favorite.

Kevin Garnett Boston Celtics - The best player on the best team has to be a candidate for MVP. Garnett may not have his usual type numbers but undoubtedly he is the leader of the team.

Kobe Bryant LA Lakers - The Lakers are back led by Kobe Bryant. After a lot of turmoil this summer the team came out and performed like few had expected, and Kobe was right in the middle of that. The knock on Kobe the past few seasons has been that he hasn’t deferred enough to his teammates.That criticism should be long gone after his performance this season.His scoring has dipped quite a bit compared to the last 2 seasons, but the Lakers as a team have flourished under his leadership.

LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers - LeBron has been a monster judging from an individual standpoint this season. He’s leading the league in scoring, and he’s posting a great stat line in other categories as well. Judging from an individual standpoint he has done as good or better than anyone in the league this season. He’s very much in the running for top honors should his team pick it up and finish the season at a strong pace.

Steve Nash Phoenix Suns - The Suns are in the running for the best record in the western conference, and it’s all centered around Nash who leads the league in assists. It will be very interesting to see how big an impact new acquired Shaquille O’Neal will have on the team come playoffs time. If Shaq is healthy and the chemistry between him and Nash gels, expect the Suns to be a scary opponent for any team in the playoffs.

Other - Please specify who.

UPDATE: Chris Paul gets my vote here based on what has happened in the season so far. A lot of people have been counting the Hornets out of playoff contention but his leadership along has really gotten them far. It'd be fun to see him win it for a change despite his team's lack of media coverage which I think is the only knock on him.

Who you guys got?

KG, because he´s having great season, although his stats are down and his team has very good record. All other picks are all very possible too, no one can be left out(maybe this ain´t probably Dirk´s year)
