Do the Miami Heat even care anymore?

Sun Jan 20, 2008 1:36 pm

I mean...seriously. They have wade(mini-lebron imo) who plays like a shadow of himself. The rest of the team shows no reaction during or after loosing games. People yap about the knicks suffering but guess who's the worst team in the league?

..ridiculous. I say they trade wade to cleveland  ...send shaq back to LA. Send pat riley back to the knicks, release the rest of the players and bring guys from the D-league onto the roster who actually care about being in the nba.

C'mon Yohance, you don't wanna see 40 free throws flying during a Cavs game. :x

Anyway, I'm guessing they're tanking it already knowing Mayo, Beasley, Rose are into the mix for next year's lottery.

Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:58 pm

There are a mediocre team when they actually try, so they won't be able to overcome being 23 games under .500, especially at this point. They are definitely tanking.

Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:06 pm

If they're tanking deliberatly then it makes sense why they are doing so badly but that's definitly a cheap cop-out on the NBA fans. I feel bad for the people who bought season tickets n' shit.

Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:43 pm

on the way to rose beasley, rose and mayo

Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:56 pm

They have wade(mini-lebron imo)

LeBron can actually shoot.

Smush Parker and Ricky Davis are keys to having a terrible team.

The Heat have two good players and a bunch of lousy guys, it was eventually going to catch up to them. And it has.

Don't forget that their big FA hauls were Penny Hardaway and Smush Parker.

Sun Jan 20, 2008 4:59 pm

They had a small window of opportunity to win a championship. They did, but it's not surprising where they're at with so many old guys.

Sun Jan 20, 2008 5:09 pm

How can you say that? Smush was part of a fairly successful Laker team and Ricky Davis is the Heat's third best scorer. It's morons like you who make guys like BIG GREEN lose their cool so often. You don't understand nba basketball.

Ok, someone's trying a bit too hard to be a big shot. Chill out.

Then again, if your team are depending on guys like Davis and Smush, then you really are the worst team.

So what if Smush was part of a great Laker team? Francisco Elson was on the championship winning Spurs team last year, now is he a player that can take your team to the top?

They were probably tanking from the first game, with that kind of roster. Anything short of a miracle could've got them a playoff seed.

I don't know how Wade still wants to be in Miami.
There is nothing he can accomplish if he stays on the Heat....
Then again, he is starting to turn into a streaky shooter.

I hope Riley is enjoying the team he put together himself. I can't believe he let go of Kapono, Posey and dare i say it, traded away Walker.

Yes. And they blew it up by trading one of the good players: Antoine Walker.

I guess that's their saving grace. They rolled the dice in an effort to win a championship and it paid off, which is more than 26 of the other NBA teams can boast this decade. They're in a bad spot right now but they did get their championship.

I don't get why the Heat are THIS bad though. I mean c'mon!

Wade is still playing fairly well (24 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds a night), and I know he has missed 11 games, but he's been there for almost (if not all, I don't know so feel free to correct me) of the losing streak. While Shaq has definitely not been anywhere near the level of his contract, you can't say him tying up cap room is why they are losing now. His stats aren't like AWFUL for any other center. Haslem is a decent role player, J-Will has had some good games, Davis is not a bad player either, while selfish, he scores...

This team should definitely be better than 8-32 or whatever they are...

the heat lost some key players during the offseason and thier only big signing was smush parker? add that to shaq who pretty much has never cared during the regular season and as it seems to me anyway, is just tired of the nba and is only collecting pay checks now. then you got the often hurt wade who really was overrated imo. the man got so much credit for bringing the heat back from 0-2 vs the mavs when it was his acting ability and not bastketball skill (though some consider acting as actually being a bball skill) that was the major factor for that win. i am not saying wade sucks, just that he is imo overrated.

to actually answer the question, no, i dont think they care anymore. imo if they want to tank the season they should just put wade on the shelf for the rest of the season. let him take all that time to fully recover so he can come back next season at 100% and help them try to win some games.

Thats pretty much it... Theres not much else to add.

Mon Jan 21, 2008 2:34 pm

Haslem is a decent role player

He got sick with the Chris Webber syndrome. He fell in love with his jumper instead of banging inside like he used to do.

Tue Jan 22, 2008 3:28 pm

I watched them get beat by the cavs with lebron having an average game by his standards and I see now what they're problem is. Shaq is an old, creaky mothe fucker and wade is the only player other than him who wants to win or play any real basketball. Wade needs to be traded if they can't draft another good player like him next year.

Tue Jan 22, 2008 5:34 pm

yeah, miami' sgame this season is terrible! and dunno who to blame actually?! i say Riley - this offseason was terrific, but all he did - he took smush to the team, lose Posey, kapono, EJ, Glove and than 'Toine. but i think miami in great situation now, Riley finally understand, that he need a little rebuilding! and now he looks to the young players. and if miami continues to loss we could have a 1-st spot in the 1 round of the 2008 draft! also we have a LOT of expiring contracts! next season gonna be different! keep praying for a better dayz!

Tue Jan 22, 2008 6:29 pm

Miami shouldn't be this bad even though they gambled it all on a championship. They just let too many guys go, and failed to secure a PG. Riley is just a terrible GM.....given the extension that Shaq got, that whole trade is looking better and better for LA everyday (if only they got more for Butler)

Tue Jan 22, 2008 8:03 pm

The Heat were always going to be bad....you trade studs like Butler & Odom (to a lesser extent) for an ageing Shaq, there goes your future for the next few years....of course, they made Conference Finals the year Shaq came over & won the title the next season....after that, you knew they were done....they were lucky the East was so weak....so yeah, they mortgage their future a little....giving Shaq a 5 year deal was always pushing it....but they needed to so they could get that title I guess....

the question for Heat fans....2 deep playoff runs including 1 Title or consistent team that will grow into power in East for years?

Tue Jan 22, 2008 9:32 pm

I suppose Heat fans might see it differently and opinion will vary from person to person, but a couple of runs, one of which yielding a championship, followed by some harder times could conceivably trump years of being a force in the East but always getting hit with "Wait your turn" come Playoff time, with that opportunity never presenting itself.

Tue Jan 22, 2008 10:00 pm

Andrew, yeah, you're right! but, i can tell that nearly 80% heat fans, including myself doesn't even understand what happened with Riley and have think bout him like about a fool! take a look at 2005-2006 Heat: Shaq, Haslem, 'Toine, Wade,J-will, Zo, Posey,Glove and all of them we more than usefull! and now???
but this offseason is gonna hapen some major moves, and i think it'll be some kinda rebuilding! and we all count on a high draft pick! off course a spot in the finals has strong value, but what we have- we have it, and we can't do nothing now(almost nothing) so we gonna take maximum from present situation! and the result will be only if Pat make good decigions!
