Bobcats send Walter Herrmann and Primoz Brezec to Detroit for Nazr Mohammed!
If you are Charlotte, I don't get this trade. You trade your (expiring) Center, for an older one of basically equal value with a huge contract, and you also give away a very solid (expiring) prospect in Walter Herrmann. Why?
Detroit wins big time here IMO. They clear up cap, and have better players now. This is a great move for a possible one-and-done title run, with those players expiring also... If they also resign Webber, McDyess will be lucky to play 15 MPG now.

What? Like Brezec and Herrmann could ever take his minutes.
How did the Pistons win big time? Herrmann has been down terribly this season shooting, and Brezec would have been better off not playing at all. Meanwhile, Nazr grabs a ton of rebounds, and the Bobcats have been getting killed on the defensive boards.
Brezec and Herrmann are 28. Hardly young prospects.

Well, 28 is better than over 30...
I am mostly basing this off last season though, when both at least had more value than Nazr did. I still think Detroit wins though. They get cap relief for a guy they seldom use and two solid backups that expire.
Charlotte gets a starting C, yes, but also a bad contract, and Nazr isn't getting any younger.

Pretty good trade for Detroit. Talent-wise, maybe not, but they don't need Nazr anyway.

Neither are Herrmann and Brezec, who are only two years behind him.
No, no, Brezec had about half as much value as Nazr last season. Brezec was terrible last year, and he's basically unplayable this year. Herrmann was great when he was shooting 63% and never turning it over, but not when he shoots 49%, because he doesn't do much else.
Both teams "win" (as if trading was suddenly a competition...) as they get something they decided they want. Charlotte gets rebounding they've desperately needed, Detroit gets two expiring contracts. Charlotte gets better on the court, Detroit gets better on the cap.

If anyone wins in this trade it is Emeka Okafor. He can finally play Power Forward and won't have to bang nearly as much every game. Look for his scoring to really climb after this.
