First All-Star votes in, Garnett leads all votes.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 6:17 am

While Garnett leads all players with 735,664 votes, Cleveland’s James – the 2007 top vote recipient – follows Garnett at the forward spot in the East with 597,768 votes, the second-highest overall tally. The Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard leads Eastern Conference centers (596,187), with the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade (470,921) and the New Jersey Nets’ Jason Kidd (342,468) pacing the conference’s guards.

Bryant leads all Western Conference players with 569,302 votes, with the Houston Rockets’ Tracy McGrady following him at guard (388,959). Denver’s Anthony (482,127) is second to Bryant among Western Conference players and is followed at forward by the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki (443,117). The Rockets’ Yao Ming leads Western Conference centers (439,125).

So Walker is not presented, but Battier is 9th in the West forwards. Scola is even in front of him.

Goddamn, I hate those Chinese fucks who vote for every fucking Rockets player...

Kobe and AI should be the ones starting at guard in the west, without a doubt. They own every other guard on the ballot...

Bah!

All-star games need point guards. Steve Nash should definitely start for the West. The 2007 game sucked because neither Kidd or Nash could play.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 7:45 am

The All-Star game is a complete joke. Remember the good old days, when players actually tried to play in the All-Star game?

I also like how Yi has so many votes... hilarious.

I'm not even going to watch it.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 7:59 am

How does Erick Dampier get so high up? Those 7 guys after him all deserve more votes, sure. But i dont even know what Damp's target audience is. Does he have an India link?

Frustrated Mavs fans? :D

Fri Dec 14, 2007 9:26 am

Wow... nearly 100K for Yi... A new record for write-in candidates?

(N) Fatoine and Battier's lack of success is disappointing.

About 20 of those votes are mine...
The only thing I'm surprised about is how Baron and Bierdrins are doing.

Well, go and fucking vote for everyone but the Rockets (and Yi). I'm sure that the whole world put together can beat the shit out of those "Chinese fucks".

FYI, I didn't vote.

So averages of 9 & 5 on a mediocre team qualify as all-star now? Yi is going to be an all-starter every year, bust or not anyway, why are you voting for him now?

Because he can. It's an asg, not mvp or all nba team voting.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 11:28 am

Still... I'm just curious as to why he would pick Yi.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 12:21 pm

Well he might be a fan of the Bucks, azn or his hair style.

Wait...you're saying people vote for their favorite players and may not vote for who should actually be the All-Star starters? BREAKING SCANDAL.

Lawl. Those damn foreigners!

If only you know, Houston and Dallas were say, top six population areas in the U.S. Then it wouldn't be so weird, huh? (Also, it's not, like say, Luis Scola has fans elsewhere in the world...look at Manu's votes.)
Hedo Turkoglu (Orl) 73,781;
Mehmet Okur (Utah) 51,017;

THOSE DAMN TURKS! GRRRRR!

Seriously, get over it. The All-Star game starters are chosen so the fans can see who they want. If people from China want to see Chinese players, people from Argentina want to see Argentines, and people from Canada want to see Raptors players, get the fuck over it already.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 1:05 pm

Because I'm asian....
But since people were voting scrubs into the ASG anyways, I might as well join China and vote for Yi.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 1:10 pm

Aside from Yi's votes it looks like the Asians have behaved themselves this year anyway. I can't really see anyone out of place, Scola's votes definitely came from people in Europe/Argentines.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 1:54 pm

I'm glad to see Melo finally getting some votes (2nd among West players) its kind of a surprise i thought AI would have a lot more than him and he prob deserves more than him but i hope they both make it in the long run. Its not a shock to me that KG is leading the way also.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 2:14 pm

Dwight with nearly 600K; over twice as much as Shaq is a huge relief also. Finally no ASG for Shaq it looks like! Is this the first time?

Oh, and Deron Williams having less votes than Stackhouse is sickening. :cussing:

Looks like the Germans are voting in the Mavs.
Boozer is German too, but he doesn't play for them.

Why would people in Europe want to vote for Scola? Sure, he played some very good seasons in Spain, but it's not like the Spaniards haven't anyone else to vote for.

Fri Dec 14, 2007 5:49 pm

He played 12 seasons in Europe, surely he must have fans there.

Yep, that's what I thought too....

Sat Dec 15, 2007 12:04 am

Boozer was actually born in Aschaffenburg, West Germany, now just Germany, on a military base and then grew up in Alaska.

Well, Europe isn't as much of a unity as a lot of Australians and Americans seem to think :-)

He played in Spain from 98-07, but I can't see why it would get him any votes from anyone besides the fans of the two teams he has played for (
Cabitel Gijón and TAU Cerámica), and like I said before, they would probably rather vote for some of the Spanish players in the NBA.
