Adam Morrison potentially done for the year

Charlotte Bobcats forward Adam Morrison suffered a left knee sprain with 5:23 left in the third quarter of Saturday's preseason contest against the Los Angeles Lakers. X-rays taken immediately following the game came back negative.

Today’s 9 a.m. MRI showed however, a partial to complete tear of the ACL, and Morrison could potentially face season-ending surgery.

He will fly back with team on Monday morning, where he will be further evaluated by Dr. Glenn Perry, the Bobcats team physician.

Morrison averaged 11.7 points on 46.4 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent from three-point range, while adding 2.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.67 steals in six preseason games for Charlotte this season.

Bad news for the young Cat, after a lacklustre rookie campaign I was really hoping he'd begin to hit his strides this year. Of course, the Richardson trade would've cut into his minutes, but he still could have been a solid impact player if he'd started to get his shot to fall.

Damn, I was really looking forward to seeing him improve this year.

Did he trip over the 'stache?

Did he trip over the 'stache?

I'd say that would be the case, which is unfortunate because the stache is the source of all of his magical power.

I don't think Morrison will ever amount to anything special so I don't really think that having Morrison out of the lineup will be dreadful.

Tough luck. I was predicting a breakout year for him. I guess we just gotta wait until next season. :(

Nice! I've always hated Morrison. He was already panning out to be a bust, and now this!

Mon Oct 22, 2007 2:19 pm

as long as the 4-some of Okafor, Richardson, Wallace & Felton stay healthy cats are in good shape.

Mon Oct 22, 2007 2:19 pm

lol @ Lamrock93

First May, now Morrison? Who's next?

it's the Filipino accent. he obviously missed some: "eben ip" and "sopmore"

Darn, he was actually making shots in preseason. That was his only problem last season.

More minutes for one of my favorite guys, Matt Carroll though. Hopefully they can use the extra roster space to find a starting point guard.

What the FUCK has that got to do with the Filipino accent? If I'd pull out an american hobo in NY right now and let him type in here, I bet he would type worse than that.

That hobo would be gangsta. (Y)

Oh, man. I just got soooo burned.

Keep it on topic kids.

I guess the only positive for Morrison is he can build some upper body strength while his leg is out of action. Another injury blow for the Bobcats, are they ever going to make the playoffs. I thought they were borderline this year, but now they are falling out of range IMO. I guess Fabio will have a bigger role this year.

Mon Oct 22, 2007 9:01 pm

i don't think Morrisons presence is key for a playoff berth. In fact, last season he was borderline awful and i don't see how he would have dramatically improved just yet.

Mon Oct 22, 2007 9:57 pm

I'd agree that Morrison isn't exactly the key to the Bobcats making the Playoffs and his rookie campaign was somewhat of a disappointment but that doesn't necessarily mean he's destined to be awful and is therefore expendable. After all, if Kwame Brown and Darko Milicic can still be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to being labelled busts, then surely Morrison deserves more than one year to prove his worth.

With all the injuries the Bobcats have endured the past couple of seasons, I think it also raises the question of "Who's next?" May is already expected to miss the entire season, Morrison may join him, Okafor missed 15 games last season and only six Bobcats played in at least 65 games in 2006/2007. They probably could have made a good run at the Playoffs last year if not for the injuries and I'd suggest they have a good shot at it this year as well if they can stay healthy.

You make a post directed at me. I do the same back to you and then you act like you're better then that when you started it.
