The home of Miami Heat basketball star Dwayne Wade is one that I am just itching to hear your thoughts on.The massive home in the Pinecrest, Florida area puts to shame other NBA homes I have seen such as those owned by Shaquille O'Neal and Karl Malone. Like Shaq, Wade personalized his pool and like Malone, Wade went a wee bit crazy with the murals.
From the outside the nearly 12,000-square-foot French-style home seems rather sedate but once inside the six-bedroom home things get a bit Flashtastic. Wade, known as "Flash," has put a "W" inlaid in the marble floor in the entrance hall and the listing includes the furnishings, artwork and some of Mr. Wade's memorabilia. There are rooms in the home, such as the dining room that are rather elegantly decorated, there are also touches like the Spider-man-themed bathrooms and the many, many renderings of Mr. Wade, that make this a home in need of some work. The home is so idiosyncratic that you would really have to be a fan to live here and I wonder if he will have as tough a time selling as Malone did. There is also a one-bedroom guest house, pool and patio with a summer kitchen on the property. The home is listed at $8.9 million. After the jump, a monument to ego.

this is why alot of athletes end up with no money when thier career is done. with good investments he will be fine, he just better hope he has no serious career ending injuries.

Yeah there was a big article in sports illustrated about how it's extremely difficult for these athletes to sell their houses for anywhere near what they paid to build them because nobody wants to buy a house with murals depicting the former owner and the nickname of the former owner carved into the pool.

y does he need a house that big for a family of 3, he should buy a nice house that hed be comfortable in, and then invest the money in other venues
he probably doesnt use half of the house anyways

its all about being bigger and better than the next guy.

Why don't players look at Warren Buffet, he is the second richest guy in the world and has 100 times what the very best in the NBA have but he still lives in a comfortable but modest home that unless I am mistaken is worth less than 1/2 a million.

This thread just makes xbox360 less human.

Nah, I think it proves he is human.
An online bot can't sneak into people's houses and take pictures.

He's a next-gen online bot.

Shits all over my 2 bedroom flat. Still it is a bit much though. Wouldn't you invest 80% of your money just in case your career falls apart, then buy a nice place and enjoy the rest?

How narcissistic do you have to be to have a shirtless sketch of yourself on the wall?
And that spiderman: is that him too?

You can pretty much search {player's name} house into google and it will have pics... i wanted to see Melo's house, not the one on MTV Cribs, so i searched it and there it was... Here it is:

That drawing of himself on the wall is absolutely ridiculous!
It's not even a good drawing too. Literally, it's amateurish. It also looks really bad when you look at the space around it. Wow.

I always thought Dwayne Wade was cool and different off the court...but this goes to show you he's just another uber-rich egomaniac NBA superstar clone.

I saw Bonner's house.

i honestly dont see how anyone could be so self centered that they would want to constantly look at themselves all the time. does anyone here have big portraits of them self hung on the wall?
Fri Jun 29, 2007 6:57 am
i think the main appeal of that picture is supposed to be the gold basketball
Fri Jun 29, 2007 7:49 am
They're talking about the wall painting, not the painting painting.
Fri Jun 29, 2007 2:31 pm
The painting painting was good.
I wouldn't have a house that big. I'd have a most sized house which I could feel comfortable in. I'd furnish it nicely.

I love everything about that house except the painting on the wall in the second pic (just poorly done). I'm a bit envious really, with time hopefully I'll be in a home that sweet.

He has lots of homies and hangers-on (translated: leech buddies).
Just looking at the house I can see the influence of Shaq on Wade's mind and ego.

i like all except the painting on the wall.

This probably doesn't compare to the fact that Arenas is planning to buy an island. Nice pics nonetheless.

I think Carmelo's house is much more sane. It seems like a completely normal upscale house, except for of course the batting cage and perhaps the court, but I think most NBA players would want a court, or at least a court nearby, and in Denver you can't exactly play on an outdoor court 365 days of the year, so the indoor makes sense.
Looking through his and Wade's house gave me entirely new perspectives on the players - for Carmelo it was a very positive one but for Wade, very much the opposite.
