LeBron James: No Respect?

Postby cheater1034 on Fri May 25, 2007 1:44 pm

Before, as in last year and before. LeBron generally got calls to go in his favor, and got away with some travels here and there because the refs couldn't interrupt a play like that.

But this year however, LBJ did not get any favorable calls from the refs, and still isn't - He even gets hacked and still doesnt go to the line.

It has been consistent this year, but not in years past. Im basically mentioning this of course because he got robbed out of game 2, and out of many regular season games.

But, LBJ's stats are way down this year. My new idea is it's partly because the officials aren't calling anything against him.

Dwade - got more favorable calls this year, has better stats than LBJ this year
Kobe - got favorable calls, had great year
Michael Jordan - If somebody looked at him they called a foul, had a great career.
LeBron - Used to get favorable calls, had a great season last year

-- This year not only did he not get favorable calls, but he also got several no-calls, many of which costing his team games, like we saw tonight. And his stats were way down.

~~~
If you figure LeBron would get the calls Dwade gets, I would have to say he'd have a breakout season. I'm not asking for Shaq-type calls (shaq can shoot somebody and not get called for it), but why does the NBA cut other guys some slack, even non-superstars more slack than LeBron?
I know it never used to be this way, but this year it has been and I don't get it.
You weren't making threads last year when LeBron got all the calls against the Wizards, right? It sucks when it's against you, but I don't think LeBron is blaming the refs for the loss.
Haha, you sound like me after the whole suspension deal with the Suns/Spurms. Deal with the fact that your team has failed to beat a Piston team that is barely trying.
I'm sorry about the call, but there is nothing you can do about it. Just hope that the Pistons continue to play this bad when the series shifts to Cleveland.
I really don't feel like LeBron has been particularly ignored or even penalized by the refs. Doesn't make sense to me to compare Wade and Kobe's year to LeBron's based on that...
"I believe there was some contact, but there's been a lot of contact throughout this series," James said. "We're a no-excuse team and we can't look at the last play as why we lost. We just have to get better."
The NBA made no official announcement, but a league official confirmed Thursday that after a video review, NBA Senior Vice President Stu Jackson charged James with a flagrant foul-penalty 2 on a play with 1:20 left in the third quarter Monday night. Had it been called at the time, James would have been ejected.
There was no fine announced, but the usual for flagrant-2 is $5,000. Jackson could've suspended James for Game 2, but decided against it.
As James was following through on a jump shot, he elbowed Detroit Pistons center Chris Webber in the head with his right arm. Webber crashed to the floor. There was no foul called by the three game officials.
The maneuver was almost exactly the same as the two elbows Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was suspended for during the season. As Bryant was falling after releasing jump shots on both occasions, he swiped at Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs and Marko Jaric of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was suspended after each, with the NBA calling it ``an unnatural basketball act.''
Though there was some chatter about the play on Internet sites and a clip was posted on YouTube, there was almost no media scrutiny of the play. Instead, all were reviewing James' decision to pass to Donyell Marshall with five seconds left.
Had the clip been replayed as often as Bryant's elbows, especially the one against Jaric after his first suspension, the NBA might have felt pressure to issue the same penalty.
wow, i just re-watched the play and it's exactly the same as Kobe's. Of course no suspension.....not that i want him suspended but this is selected discrimination.
if the nba has thier "a rule is a rule" policy then he should be suspended just like kobe. i bet anything if this was not the playoffs, or if he was not the most marketable star left in the playoffs, he would be suspended.
Gotta disagree, LBJ still gets plenty of foul calls in the regular season. He's #5 for FTA per game and the only non-guard in the top 5.
Bron averaged 9.0 FTA per game this year, when Jordan was winning championships he averaged from 7.0 to 8.8, so LeBron is getting more calls than Jordan even at this point in his career.
What you're probably complaining about is the no-calls during the playoffs in contrast to last year's Wade's Free Throw to the Title show. This effected Wade as well, last year Thabo would have fouled out guarding Wade like he did, as Dallas can tell you.
Of course, with a back to the 80s-90s physical style of ball, it's probably going to favor teams with veterans and play physical D. Well hey, what a surprise the Spurs & Detroit are probably going to the Finals.
I've been ignoring Cheater's posts completely since it's been established he's just a whiney little fanboy. Makes Kobe fans look miniscule.
I could make a book on Kevin Garnett and the non-calls he gets. Some superstars get constant breaks and some don't. You have to deal with it.
Maybe the league have wised up a little. Why should LeBron get calls others don't?
So this is turning into a my favorite player doesn't get calls thread? C'mon you guys know better, everybody is biased when it comes to this topic. Yeah Bron's not getting all the calls he was getting last year, partially because he's not as aggressive this season, neither is Kobe, Tmac and who ever else you wanna mention. The rules change on perimeter d should have benefited all of the above.
Yeah he got fouled on the last play of game 2.
He drove,
he spun,
went airborne,
was contact,
no whistle,
game over.
BUT, he didn't blame the refs, he blamed giving up a 12 point lead so let it go, I know its hard. Still pissed about Dwade's: stiff arm on dirk=2 fts.
As for the Kobe flagrant deal, Kobe made a bad rep for himself so he will continue to get the same judgement. Dude's got a dirty play highlight reel! :shock: Lebron knocked the hell out of Cweb, but the difference is Cweb didn't complain to the league office, he actually said it was unintentional as did Flip Saunders. When Kobe did his little thing, reports rolled in.
Wow I like Lebron and the Cavs and even I am getting annoyed of Cheater and I dont even read the forums much.
From what I've watched Lebron gets his fair share of calls, out of all the superstars I'd say Kobe gets the least calls, just from what I've seen. Yet somehow he still seems to be the most dominant offensive player in the league? Either I'm right and your theory of getting calls equals good season is complete bogus, or I'm wrong and your an absolute genius.
Lebron was getting plenty of calls (or no calls to be specific) last year when the travelling calls weren't made against him in the crucical final seconds against the Wizards (i believe).
:roll:
Sports writers all over the country who have been watching basketball for decades before you or me were born have been citing Lebron's performance last night as one of the most special of all time. I don't understand how you can't appreciate his efforts last night, just because it came against your team.
