I don't know the names of PA announcers, and I expecially don't know announcers from the past. But my favorite is Detroit's. B-B-B-B-Billups.

Mason is one of the most annoying PA announcers.

I also can't stand the announcer for the Mavericks.

The Kings and Suns have good announcers though.

Yeah Mavs announcer sounds like he is at a grave yard with his Deee----feeennseee, Denver's is OK, I like how when we hit a 3 pointer he does a 1..2..3 3 pointer for "name" and when Melo makes a dunk he says Melooo and the crowd repeats it.

Mason is by far the WORST PA annoucer ever. his stuttering ass gained fame by coming up an annoying taunt that could've been thought up by a 5 year old.

Sadly not. Ray Clay was let go after the 2002 season over a dispute with team brass over Michael Jordan's return to the United Center. Clay wanted to introduce MJ as he did for so many years but was instructed to introduce him like any other player on an opposing team.

I know. For all Jordan's done, Ray should've been able to do it. If Detroiot's announcer was able to say how Ben Wallace revived Detroit basketball and stuff...they could've given Jordan something...

I do want Clay back, he was great.

How can you not love Mason?! He's very entertaining, and really knows how to get the crowd going. PA announcers don't have to come up with exquisite one liners, they just need to know how to get everybody excited.

I admit that I sometimes get sick of "DEEEETROIT BASKETBALL" - but at the 5 or 6 games I've been to this season, I only heard it a few times (in fact, one game, he didn't even say it). I especially like the way he says McDyess after he scores - "Mickety Mick Mick Dice Dice" (lol, it looks/sounds incredibly stupid in text, I wish I had a sound clip instead).

Yes but he doesn't have that great of an announcing voice. He has the energy, but his voice sound is just lacking. I think the Sonics have a pretty good PA anouncer, better than the others I know, but the only other ones I have heard consistently are the Heat, The Mavs, and the Pistons. I've heard the Lakers too and their PA anouncer is good as well.

I guess it comes down to him having a unique style which doesn't appeal to everyone.

^ yeah i know what you mean

the worst part about the Heat guy is that he creams his pants in the 1st half. Most PA's get rowdy in the 2nd half when the game is on the line.

Stan Kelley.

No other PA announcer comes close to Mason...DEETROIT BASKETBALLLLL. I noticed when watching the NBA finals that did not take place in Detroit , that the introductions and PA announcing during these introductions were very poor compared to the passion and enthusiasm that John Mason brings when he announces the Pistons.
