Iverson Traded to Denver

Postby J@3 on Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:58 pm

From RealGM:

Iverson Asks To Be Traded
8th December, 2006 - 7:30 am
New York Post -
Allen Iverson went to team president Billy King this past Tuesday and demanded to be traded, according to two agents whose clients play for the 76ers.

GM Billy King is attempting to accomodate the request as quickly as possible, according to two general managers that spoke with the Sixers' boss.

"If you know your leader doesn't care, how are we supposed to play with the guy?" steamed a teammate to his agent.

According to the same agent, Iverson reportedly told King he likes Maurice Cheeks as a person "but not as a coach."

Mark Kizla of the Denver Post reports that a source informed him that the Nuggets are interested in Iverson

Woohoo!

I hope this is true, because I hate to see the little man rot in Philly. This is gonna be one hell of a blockbuster, I wonder who they trade him for. I'm very happy Iverson decided to do this finally, he deserves to win.

If it's going to go with the Nuggets, a big man and a couple of picks will surely do.

I dont think the Sixers need a big man if they trade AI, they need guards better than ollie/green/korver....

but lets hope its a good deal for iverson, and will return him to a player i can actually respect rather than make practice jokes about

Please no. I would rather see Mo Cheeks go. Cheeks isn't even a good coach. Even if he turned out to be a good one, the most he can bring Philly is to the 2nd round.

Dump Cheeks and bring back Larry Brown, it can hamper the development of Rodney Carney but at least he can shape that bitch, C-Webb, and Korver to be better. Iggy would fit into Brown's system including Dalembert and Hunter.

This is probably going to take awhile for him to get dealt. It will be similar to the Ron Artest fiasco.

I actually think the dark horse for AI is Sacramento. They have a lot of quality pieces to offer that they'd probably be willing to give up, and Ron Artest and AI are friends. Maybe a Brad Miller/SAR + Draft pick would get it done. (I don't know if that works salary wise)

Boston, Denver and Minnesota are the teams that will be mentioned the most, but I think only Denver both has the pieces and would be willing to part with them. Boston has plenty of young talent, but I don't think they'd be willing to put together an attractive enough deal for Philly to bite. Minnesota doesn't have enough good players.

Another dark horse is Seattle for Rashard Lewis and whatever pieces need to be added to match salaries.

i'd like to see him go to the wolves. KG+AI would be interesting, 2 superstars who need a ring.

Possible, but not worthwhile.
When a player demands a trade like the articles are insinuating then its the other teams that have the upper hand.
Boston (any team for that matter) would be stupid to trade away a superstar for a superstar in that situation.

Philly takes what it can get - expiring contracts and youth. More than likely a good first round pick too.

Philly knows that if it doesnt deal iverson that he could pull a vince and just not perform. And the sad thing is, because vince did it and owned up, every owner and GM knows its a possibility now so teams trading FOR iverson still would look favourably on him as a player(attitude aside).

More than likely I see him going to Portland For Magloire, Miles, a throw in and a pick.
Although i do think Seattle have a good chance too... they're sweating on Rashard opting out.

Interesting times ahead.

AI and Marbury hate each others guts.
That's why some people were surprised when they hugged each other during the 2001 All-Star game when they (East team) made a comeback against the West and won.

He's love to see that because we all know how self-destructive he is. Besides, New York isnt an upgrade on his situation. I believe he feels he needs to go to a team with the personnel that if you added him in the mix they could make a strong run for the championship.

I'm really not surprised at all, whats more surprising is that he was still there. All I'm waiting for now is KG to demand a trade to LA. Now that would make me wet my panties.

given that Philly is going nowhere, they'll want youth/expiring contracts/1st rnd picks....so basically they are starting over. Might as well dump Webber if they can.

I hope he goes to Minnesota. If he goes to Denver, he will suck the life out of Carmelo's so far great season and the rise of JR Smith. What he needs is a stable team that needs a scoring punch in the form of a guard, with a good frontcourt player to complement him. Minnesota is that.

I'd bet Minnesota would be willing to trade their young players such as Foye, McCants and Smith to keep Kevin Garnett happy (Garnett + Iverson basically = wins) and fulfill his request to "bring some more veterans in".

Here's a possible trade scenario:

Philadelphia send:

G | Allen Iverson

Minnesota send:

G | Troy Hudson

C | Mark Blount

G | Randy Foye

*Tried it with RealGM trade checker. Approved. (3471556)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In return for a disgruntled Iverson, the Sixers get a decent center in Mark Blount. They get a PG in Troy Hudson who can be very good at times, but just isn't there enough. In Philadelphia, Troy Hudson is the starting point guard ahead of Kevin Ollie and Louis Williams. Finally, they get a potential all star in Randy Foye, a guy who could turn out to be a very good player down the road and could potentially start ahead of Korver as the season progresses.

Honestly, If I was Philadelphia I would jump on this trade immediately. It's very rare that when a superstar demands to be traded the team gets much in return. In this return they get 3 solid players with one of them being a potential star.

After the trade I really believe both teams got what they need:

Philadelphia

C: Samuel Dalembert
PF: Chris Webber
SF: Andre Igoudala
SG: Randy Foye
PG: Troy Hudson

Minnesota

C: Eddie Griffin
PF: Kevin Garnett
SF: Ricky Davis
SG: Allen Iverson
PG: Mike James

Minnesota just needs to get a decent center, and their starters are looking good.

Are you kidding me flite? That's a horrible trade for Philly. They need to get draft picks if they are going to do a trade with such a horrible dropoff in talent. Mark Blount would be a disaster there, Troy Hudson is a middle of the road backup point guard, and Randy Foye is going to be a good player, but not good enough to make Philly even think about biting. Minnesota doesn't have the pieces to get an AI deal done unless Billy King is in a hurrry to get this done. Here are some deals I think are much more likely.

Philadelphia Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Allen Iverson
6-0 PG from Georgetown
33.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 7.4 apg in 43.0 minutes
Incoming
Mike Miller
6-8 SG from Florida
13.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.7 apg in 30.6 minutes
Stromile Swift
6-10 PF from Louisiana State
8.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 20.4 minutes
Rudy Gay
6-8 from Connecticut
No games yet played in 2005/06
Hakim Warrick
6-9 SF from Syracuse
4.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.4 apg in 10.6 minutes

That is the only type of deal that would get BK's attention without high first rounders.

Here is the type of trade that they could do if first rounders were included to go Philly's way.

Philadelphia Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Allen Iverson
6-0 PG from Georgetown
33.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 7.4 apg in 43.0 minutes
Incoming
Brad Miller
7-0 C from Purdue
15.0 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 4.7 apg in 37.0 minutes
Shareef Abdur-Rahim
6-9 PF from California
12.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.1 apg in 27.2 minutes

+Sacramento's first rounder

I think that's a deal both sides would have to consider. Sacramento obviously does the deal immidiately. However, Philly would try very, very hard to get Kevin Martin, and if Sacramento feels that a Bibby/Iverson/Artest trio can win them a championship they may deal Martin.

Here are some other's to throw out there.

Outgoing
Allen Iverson
6-0 PG from Georgetown
33.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 7.4 apg in 43.0 minutes
Incoming
Jason Richardson
6-6 SG from Michigan State
23.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.1 apg in 38.4 minutes
Troy Murphy
6-11 PF from Notre Dame
14.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 34.0 minutes

This is one of the best deals Philly will be able to get talent wise, and Golden State probably does this deal. Imagine Baron Davis and Allen Iverson in the same backcourt though.

Outgoing
Allen Iverson
6-0 PG from Georgetown
33.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 7.4 apg in 43.0 minutes
Incoming
Danny Granger
6-8 SF from New Mexico
7.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.1 apg in 22.6 minutes
Jeff Foster
6-11 C from Southwest Texas State
5.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 25.1 minutes
Jamaal Tinsley
6-1 PG from Iowa State
9.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 5.0 apg in 26.7 minutes

I throw up all over this trade, but I think Philly would be intrigued. You get a promising guy in Granger that could be lethal teamed up with Iguodala and two other starting quality players.

However, if BK is smart, he'll dump Iverson for a young guy and a pick and not look to get a good player in return, because if Philly can get him out ASAP and get a draft pick from a team that will most likely be in the 18-23 range, then they will have a top 3 pick, so Oden/Durant/Noah and a middle first round pick, along with the young guy they got for AI.

Forgot to mention there would need to be picks involved. Theres no way Memphis sends everything that their team is right now plus their future (Gay, Warrick) who should both be All Stars one day for Iverson.

I agree that Memphis shouldn't do that deal, I was only saying that's a deal that Philly would take without picks.

I don't know why a Jazz fan would be "LOLing" at that. You could get rid of any idea you had of the Jazz winning the division, I guess that's pretty funny.
