Jesus, what a game. It's both enjoyable and irritating to watch.

Enjoyable because of the high level of tension ofcourse but irritating because of the lousy calls being made. I mean at the 1.14 mark of regular time, that was one of the cleanest blocks I've ever seen. (Carter on Stoudemire.) Had that bogus call not been made, he would've probably not fouled out with that supposed 6th foul, instead it would've been his fifth.

Seriously, everytime anyone tries to play what remotely looks like defense, the refs call a foul. It's bloody pathetic.

On another note, what an amazing shot by Nash to send it in to first OT.

Oh my.. This is definetly the best game I've seen all season long.
Absolutely amazing game by the leagues best point guards and their supporting cast. I never expected there to be a place in nowadays leaguefor a workhorse like Kidd, with his age, such a sight. Nor did I expect there to be a place in the league for modern-day Stockton, but there it is, Nash.

Wonderful game. I'm not a fan of either teams and was absolutely amazed by the game, NBA basketball at it's best. I did not even mind the calls.

Wow. That must've been an incredible game to watch. I think I have to watch this one, because looking at the stats, holy shit, that was quite a duel with Kidd and Nash.

Nash isn't that bad of a defender. He usually has to double off his man, so it looks bad in the box score. He's quick enough though to be a pest on defense, and usually does a good job on on double teams and help plays. He's also willing to give up his body for charges.

For the game, I watched it all for the most part. I was amazed that the Nets shot the ball so well, especially on jumpers. This team is usually one of the worst on 3's and jumpshooting, but some less than great shooters stepped it up tonight to keep them close. I doubt they'll shoot it great like that again for awhile.

Nash was clutch the entire game. Not only was the shot at the end of the 1st OT a big one, but I dont recall him missing but maybe one shot in the 4th quarter, and all overtimes combined. He hit basically everything, and was automatic from the free throw line. Anyone who doesn't think this guy is a clutch performer hasn't seen him play. The playoff game two years ago against Dallas... the double OT thriller against Denver last year.. game winner against Golden State two weeks ago, and again tonight (and thats just off the top of my head).

Yeah I've merely seen around dozen games by Stockton but I still consider Nash as the closest to Stockton the league has right now. Sure, Stockton was an amazing defender, but I meant the way Nash handled the ball against the Nets today, those threepointers and stock-to-malone type of passes to Marion and Stoudemire.

Different, yea, but alot more accurate statement than saying LeBron is the next Jordan which goes around too often. What I meant was similar like Kobe-MJ similar. I just see Stock type of playmaking in Nash, and am as fascinated seeing him as I was with Stockton during old Jazz better seasons, but that's just my obviously ignorant opinion

yeah that shot by Nash was crazy. I don't think Kidd should've taken that shot at the end of OT, but I guess RJ wasn't open. throughout the whole OT & 2OT I was hoping it would stay close to the end... but Phx blew it open late in 2OT.

That's more a reflection on Sloans coaching than on the similarities between the two players...

This next statement isnt intended to offend Stockton lovers or take away from Stocktons greatness:

It doesnt hurt a pass first (ALL-TIME NBA LEADER in assists) point guard to have arguably the best PF (and 2nd ALL-TIME leading points scorer(!!)) of all time receiving your handoffs. That is something that Nash doesnt have and has won back to back MVPs plying that trade.

Its just a point that was made... I second that Nash is a modern day Stockton... no other point guard is doing the same thing to get THAT comparison.

Oooh, I wonder how things would have turned out if Nash had've played with Malone back then... *sigh*

Had it not been for the block that was called a foul, Carter would have been right. If anyone has footage of that block on Amare, do post it.

And the comentaters actually made me fall off my chair, suddenly out of nowhere I hear them go...Steve Nash is the best guy to play the pick and roll. The other commentater guy was like quiet...and the first one realised what he just said and he's like...Stockton was great, don't get me wrong, but Nash can do so much out of the pick & roll blah blah blah. Save it, Stockton & Malone perfected the pick & roll, not Nash.

just a few thoughts about your post

1) Stockton did have Malone, but he also had Greg Ostertag and Adam Keefe to pass to. Nash has Stoudamire, Marion, Diaw, Bell, Barbosa, he had Q Richardson Joe Johnson. I think he had more people to pass to.

2) Stockton never sprinted the floor and pushed the ball the way Nash does. Stock was more of a walk the ball up the floor kind of guy. Stockton excelled in the half court game, Nash in the fast break. I would say Nash plays a bit more like Isiah Thomas did, though Nash isn't even close to either of these two defensively.

Heh, that's interesting statistic right there, had no idea the duo had such a hard time holding onto the ball. But still, Jazz was a success late 90s with their team. Similarly to this years Jazz, their roster was not all that great but the team clicked really well. Despite the turnovers.

Shame all that didn't end with a shiny ring though.
