Cleanong up the Mess: Knicks to Hire Janitor at PG

NEW YORK- At 1-3. Isaiah Thomas and the Knicks have become so desperate that they're looking for help from the unlikest of places.

Sources close to Isiah Thomas claim that the newest Knick will be coming from within the organzation, well sort of.

"I have been thinking about this for a awhile," Thomas said Tuesday at practice. "We're 1-3 and could use some new blood in the lineup."

That new blood is reported to be coming from the old guy who sweeps the garden floors at night.

His name is Dusty Jones, a 5-foot-4 janitor who has worked at the Garden for 19 years. He's 39-years-old with a bad hip, but is said to be ready if called upon by the Knicks.

"I've been waiting a long time for this," said Jones, who last played basketball in 1984 while a student at Hard Knocks Highschool in the Bronx.

"I used to be the leading scorer on my team," said Jones. "I may be a little older now, but I still got it."

Meanwhile at practice some Knicks weren't sure if the reports were true.

"I mean I know the guy, but I've never seen him ball," said guard Stephon Marbury. "As long as he doesn't take away from my minutes I'm cool with it."

Steve Francis seemed indifferent about the possible newcomer.

"I'm out wth a sprained ankle, so I wouldn't care if they signed some guy off the street to fill in for me till I get back," said Franics.

While Dusty Jones may not literally be right off the street, he is indeed the Knicks best hope right now to turn around a stumbling 06'-07' campaign.
