NBA Preseason 2006

Postby --- on Fri Oct 13, 2006 11:42 am

Just making a thread so random popups of preseason issues don't pop up everywhere. If there is already a preseason thread I missed, could someone delete this?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Im listening to Dallas vs Sacramento and I have been pretty impressed by Ndudi Ebi thus far. He's been on the court for about 4 minutes, and when he first came on the court he had an assist off a touch pass to Erick Dampier for the dunk, then on the following play had a kickback pass to Ager for the layup. Can't wait to see what Darius Washington Jr. can do.

EDIT: Ager is playing very well, especially shooting from outside. Bibby 4/4 from 3, Ebi comes back in

EDIT2: Ebi with 4 fouls.... :? just scored on Brad Miller

EDIT3: 5 fouls... He needs to learn to play defence. Barea (Y)
Jason Hart 3 pointer at the buzzer, Sacramento 83 - 63 Dallas

EDIT4: Pops Mensah-Bonsu just came on, SUPER REBOUNDER!!!

EDIT5: Darius Washington 4 point play  but Mavs lose 111-90

EDIT6: Farmar is looking very very good. Saer Sene has a 7'9 wingspan

So yeah, if its about preseason, fire away!

Ndudi Ebi is garbage. He has a lot of talent but he just was never ready for the NBA physically or mentally. I hope he can get his head screwed on because we were all rooting for him in Minnesota but they guy was just clueless out there. The worst part of it was that he complained about playing time and he said to some reporters that would not accept another season on the bench in Minnesota. That angered a lot of people up here and he wore out his welcome. Garnett tried to take him under his wing but it was just not to be.

If Ebi can turn himself into an effective NBA player I will be impressed.

I liked Ebi before he joined the NBA... I thought he would be at least a starter and contributing positively to his team. Looks like I was wrong. :(

Same here...I remember reading an article about him in SLAM, and I was psyched because he was committed to going to Arizona. Looks like he made a shitty decision...

Lakers played Seattle at the Pond (aka the Honda Center) in Anaheim. watched it on TV and Farmar was impressive... he we very composed and stayed under control. Gelabale is an interseting prospect... skinny and squirrely he reminds me of a young Richard Hamilton. RAy allen just tore up the Laker interior defense but seemed to really struggle from the outside.

I guess for every Lebron and Amare and others... you are bound to get Deshawn, Ebi, Telfair, James Lang, etc...

Although there haven't been that many HS players jumping to the pros, there's been a huige distinction between the success stories and the others.

The thing is with these players, you never know what can happen. 3-4 years time Ndudi could be a starting SF. Its unknown because the NBA has never really been in a position with so many HS players in the league right now that havn't done anything so far. Telfair is one guy that I think could rise to stardom, and people were pretty quick to call him a bust after just 1 season. Anything could happen.

the thing is that Ndudi has had plateny of chances in 2-3 years to get his shit together but he isn't impressing teams enough to even keep him on the IR for the year. high schoolers like Rashard Lewis & more recently Travis Outlaw have stuck with teams at the bootom of the depth chart and emerge after time. I think Ndudi will have a fate like Leon Smith (professionally) as opposed to a Travis Outlaw.

Out of all of the underperforming HS players... I liked James Lang the most. I want him back in the League... he never really was in it in the first place lol

I think Telfair will surprise a lot of people once he gets traded from Boston.

As for Ebi, maybe a season or two abroad will help settle him down?

Ndudi never has had a chance to show his stuff. I doubt he will ever become a starting caliber player, I was just using him as an example. I do think Telfair could end up being one of the leagues potential future premiere point guards along with Shaun Livingston, Marcus Williams, OJ Mayo and Derrick Rose. (Didn't include CP3, Felton, Hinrich, etc because they have already shown what they can do)

EDIT: I forgot to say, I have alot of hope for Andray Blatche and I think he could explode with in the next 3 seasons

apologies for bumping the week old thread.

it seems like the games in this year's pre-season have been, on the whole, more free flowing offensively. scoring has been much higher, with most of the games having at least one team netting 100+ points.

any thoughts? and do you think this can carry over into the regular season?

It's because everyone in danger of being cut is trying to score 20 points, obviously...

no, since guys aren't playing at 100% which means there D isn't as willing. Once the reg season starts, and they get comfortable playing with eachother as a unit on D, scoring should go down.

Raptors at 5–0, but that scares me a little bit since it'll be setting themselves for expectations going into the regular season.

The Pacers have a very interesting problem. Right now we need to make some cuts to get the roster down to 15, but everybody on the team right now deserves to make it and even play a role.

Josh Powell without question will make the team, he's very good, and would have shined in Dallas giving the chance.

For awhile I thought it was definitley going to be Powell and Orien Greene that got the last 2 spots, but now Rawle Marshall has looked outstanding in the last few games.

To be honest, I think i'd cut Sarunas right now, he's gotten worse from last season, and Darrell Armstrong has looked a million times better so far this preseason. I think Sarunas will definitley be traded by the deadline, or his contract will be bought out. He's simply not NBA material.

good conclusion....the guy can't do anything, and he's an above average shooter who needs space. Doesn't he have the support of Walsh & Bird though?

Raptors at 5–0, but that scares me a little bit since it'll be setting themselves for expectations going into the regular season

don't worry, reality will be installed when Raptors start 0-5 :P

I honestly don't think Indy was the best fit for Jasikevicius. He's on the becnh behind Tinsley and I tihnk he would've started had he signed with the Cavs

i don't think Jasikevicius is as good as Damon Jones, and Damon Jones, well, he was a Chucky Atkins backup. Jones can't even replace the fossilised Snow.

Why do we need one thread for preseason talk? It's the only thing happening in the NBA right now and this is NBA Talk.

Because there would be numerous threads about things to do with preseason without it.
