american shame

has any one else noticed that the nba.com website has mentioned very little if anything about usa being knocked out of the world championships. Throughout the entire tournament the nba.com website was posting blogs, reports and video's of games played, but it would appear that the moment usa looses a game all coverage vanishes. if this is the case it's a classic case of poor sportsmanship.

This has nothing to do with NBA Live 07, so, moved to NBA Talk.

I don't think it has to do with bad sportsmanship, it's just a matter of supply and demand. The average Joe doesn't really pay as much attention when they're favourite team isn't competing, that's just normal. So I recon when the USA got knocked out, the interest in the competition dropped considerably amongst the NBA.com visitors. Besides, it was already in the semis, so there wasn't that much left to report about...

granted... but not even highlights of the game the usa team lost we put online.

Are you American? If you are, you probably don't follow the news much it was all over sports sites and news everywhere.

"US Suffers Unexpected Defeat" or something like that.

nba.com posted the results of every game, not just those games of Team USA, I mean they reported the FIBA games as a neutral, not a Team USA fan.

They don’t have to make a series of special report for Team USA lost to Greece or anything like that. Why? Cause they didn’t make one for Italy, China, German, France and Japan…or any other countries.

And I do remember the website still posted news for the championship game and other rank games as well. Those FIBA coverage didn’t suddenly vanished after the USA lose.

NBA.com just did what they have to do – report those NBA PLAYERS who play in Japan, the website doesn’t need any criticism. I do believe Americans suffered a lot after the FIBA series, but I don’t think there is any thing against sportsmanship.

actually i have to agree, they havent done much since they were knocked out but i guess there isnt much to say when they arent in it any more

Does fiba post in depth reports of all american leagues?

NBA.com has never reported much in the way of international basketball, so i'm not surprised.

It was pretty prevalent in sports news when it happened.

But still, since the last few USA teams were equally disappointing, it wasn't a huge story. Kinda like reporting that Isaiah made a bad trade... not exactly eye-popping.
