USA vs. Puerto Rico

Postby Axel on Fri Aug 04, 2006 1:02 pm

Thought it's just an exhibition game, I'm really looking forward to watching this game tonight. It's on ESPN2 i believe... almost like watching an all-star game. Also, tonight could be a sign of things to come for team USA...

Anyone else watching this tonight?

If this is in the wrong place... please move it.

Even though its tight I kinda like what I see in team USA. Not as much showboating and it seem they really wanna play. Only thing is so does Puerto Rico. Over the course of the game I feel like USA can widen the scoreline, Puerto Rico kinda seems like they are barely staying with it, a bad bounce here or there and they may be outta this game.

PR is amazing. I personally, never knew about this. USA is looking kind of sloppy, I mean, the players seem better in the NBA season.

Ok USA beginning to pull away. Hopefully they can sustain this effort and not let Puerto Rico back into the game. Even though its a warmup its integral they come out with an excellent showing tonight.

That's the main reason why I love his game. That crossover was so smooth.

Hows things turn so quickly. 39 point lead at the moment and Puerto Rico looks like they are ready to leave the arena. Good job in the second half team USA. (y)

It was still an entertaining game though, even in the second half. Lots of talent on this team, and I thought CP did a great job distributing the ball, and keeping everyone involved. Hopefully they play with this much continuity through the entire WC.

I watched until midway 3rd quarter, the team looks promising. If anything, their ability to force turnovers rapidly through a team effort last night will be effective.

I love watching Team USA ball! I can't wait for two years from now when these guys are really dominating the league, and players like CP3 and Dwight Howard really get going. I think the 2008 Olympic team will be the best ever.

Anyways, it was really the 2nd/3rd string players who turned the game around. Hinrich, Arenas, JJ, Brand, Brad Miller and other bench players got in there, went after loose balls and got the lead. Then the first stringers came in and finished the job. Kudos :)

Yeah, I noticed they played best when they didnt have a lot of shot jackers in there. Early on they were taking a lot of tough shots that werent going in, but when Bowen and Battier and Hinrich and Miller got in there, along with Brand and Johnson and James and Paul, they really seemed to get going. After that the other guys like Wade and Carmello and Bosh seemed to fit into the style more.

I'm looking forward to the games against China and Brazil a lot.

You can really tell there's a college coach leading the team. The pressure defense is very college-ish and perfect for these kind of competitions.
Obviously, the roster they have this time around helps a lot too, I really think Team USA is gonna go undefeated in the style of the original Dream Team in 2008.
And I'm not saying this because of this exhibition against a team that's not even a contender, although two years ago they did get killed by PR.
