Sports Skill Challenge

Postby Clinton on Sun Feb 09, 2003 11:34 am

Jason Kidd won the Sports Skill challenge after beating Gary Payton in the final. tony Parker went first and totally stuffed up, missing all his attempts at the jumpshot. Marbury went alright, but Kidd and Payton were about 8 seconds quicker. In the final Payton stuffed up on the first passing station and had no chance of catching Kidd.
Overall I liked the concept and hope they keep it around. It shows all the skills of the point guard and has proven to show who are the best point guards. The crowd was into it and so were the players.

Nah, the way that is funny doesn't mean that it is fun. It's good to see them trying to get the pass thru that hole but I don't think it is entertaining, I prefer they make the Slam Dunk Competition back to the old days and cut off those kids games.

I can't beleive Parker is getting matched up with the best ...

I think this challenge is really cool...i hope they continue this and get more players into it.

I would have liked to see Iverson, Francis, Terry, Arenas or Alston. Parker did not go well. I think they could extend the field, make some changes to the course, add some obstacles that test dribbling more and another shooting station. It wasn't great, but it was better then 2 Ball.

Sure, they could also score it based on style and creativity. That should open the contest up to more creative expression -- things like behind the back, no-look, et al.

I like the idea. They could expand on it some more though.

They looked like they were trying pretty hard to me. They were trying to get around that course as quick as possible. It wasn't the most exciting thing ever, but you must admit it does beat 2 Ball, and with a bit of improvement could become a regular at allstar saturday.

it does beat the 2ball competition, but the case with it would be which one of them it's worse. I truly preffer the dunk competition to be longer with more players or round, than watching that again.

2 Ball was just like watching a longer and less entertaining three-point shootout.

With some changes the obstacle course could be more interesting. How funny was it that Parker couldn't hit the jump shot, Marbury couldn't make the passes and Payton couldn't remember to get the last ball?

What was he going to do just run through the cutouts?

Marbury couldn't make the passes

Is that really suprising?
