Who Went Undrafted Thread

Postby cklitsie on Fri Jun 30, 2006 3:05 am

I think this must be the closest I've been following the draft (and NCAA season) ever, so there's quite a few players now that I would've loved to see in the NBA.
I'm not saying I like all the players I'm going to list, but I noticed a couple pretty big college stars going undrafted:

- Allan Ray, I can understand why certain teams wouldn't want him but he undoubtely has talent..
- Curtis Stinson, I've seen only about 2 games of him, but judging from those two and scouting reports, he seemed like a player with a bright future as well..
- Kevin Pittsnogle, he was really the star of a strong WVU team, they were top in the Big East (and what about his teammate Mike Gansey?)..

Gerry McNamara. He showed that he is clutch and can pass well for example in the big east tourney he averaged like 18 points and 7 assists. He made many game winning 3's. People tend to overlook his championsip run his freshman year becasue he had Carmelo but he has had talent for all of his years. He could be a Damon Jones type player in my opinion.

Darius Washington dumbass should've stayed in Memphis. I already knew he wasn't going to get drafted and he wasn't even ready for the NBA. I really felt sorry for him. He is just going to have to work harder in the summer and try to get on a summer league team and hopefully make an NBA roster.

I'm also surprised about Pops Mensah Bonsu amd Nik Caner Medley. Those two players with extremely long names were both very nba ready. Pops was a raw talent, just extremely athletic and could block shots. Nik was a very fluent shooter and at some times shown the desire to rebound. Both of these guys should have went mid to late 2nd round.

Sun Yue. A 6-9 point guard sounds like an interesting gamble for a second round pick.

Sorry if this is a stupid question cause I'm not familiar with the American education but can those undrafted players return to college and enter the draft next year?

Nope, because once a player that declares for the draft hires an agent, they cannot go back on their decision and go back to college.

Bobby Brown is a wife beater.

When a guy like Marcus Williams slips to 22, you know someone aint getting drafted.

I think Gansey would be a perfect fit off of the bench for Utah. :) He reminds me of Jeff Hornacek.

Gansey didn't get drafted? I didn't know that. I watched Pre-Draft camps on TV and listened to some basketball anyalysts they said he was pretty decent strength wise and was a good player. Guess he slipped. I feel bad for Marcus Slaughter. He was gonna be a first rounder then he just dropped completely. He was a junior in college but he hired an agent so he's screwed.

He's not screwed. Teams can always sign undrafted players and if that doesn't work out he can always join the NBDL or another league out there.

You guys are forgetting about Brandon Bowman from Georgetown. He has range and he can rebound. I dont see why a secound round team would waste their pick selecting someone who will never play and not going for Bowman or Ray.

Could it be lack of scouting? I think so. Who knows, though, with some of the general mangers we have nowdays. *cough*knicks*cough*

Mike Gansey didn't get picked  I'm not totally surprised but I fully expect him to catch on to someone's training camp roster & make a team & its rotation....
