That's pretty funny... seriously, has he just suddenly fallen in love with Kobe or something? Cause didn't Anthony say that Kobe was gonna be better than MJ?
Sun Apr 23, 2006 10:34 am
I'm a Laker fan myself and I don't think we have a good chance of getting to the Conference Finals.
Sheesh...
Sun Apr 23, 2006 11:11 am
Yes. The lakers have a chance if they beat phoenix. After phoenix its denver or clippers in which are easy pickings for kobe.

Well said. So thats what Anthony was probably pointing out with his choice. I think they if they beat Phoenix, theyre in Conf Finals.

Hahaha. Anthony is wrong a lot of the time. But last year, he predicted that the Hornets would not win a game till christmas and his prediction was on the money, with the NOH wnnin 2 games.

after spurs raping kings in game 1, i don't really think lakers can beat spurs in a 7 game series if they get past the suns

They won't play the Spurs in round 2, it'll be either Denver or the Clippers. I don't think anyone thinks the Lakers can beat the Spurs in a 7 game series.

Keyword.. if.

The only way kobe will be better than MJ is if he gets his teammates up to his level like MJ Did, he has the individual skills of MJ, now he needs the Team skills.
Sun Apr 23, 2006 1:17 pm
By the way, greg anthony did not say that kobe would be better than MJ, it was Mark Jackson who said that, then Scottie Pippen quickly retailed back at him. It was when the lakers played phoenix for the last time and kobe had 43.

No disrespect intended to the Nuggets, but if the Lakers advance I want to see them match up against the Clippers. Just for the oddity of it.
Sun Apr 23, 2006 1:47 pm
Yeah seven games in LA would be awesome.
Sun Apr 23, 2006 4:39 pm
indeed it would be good...especially since Kobe once considered signing for the Clips.
Sun Apr 23, 2006 5:16 pm
Its a good idea Kobe didn't sign with the Clippers, I really don't think it really would have been good for either teams. Cassell and Mobley have been holdin it down for the Clips and the Lakers have done pretty good since Phil Jackson and Kobe reunited
Sun Apr 23, 2006 5:27 pm
hahahahaha, cuttino mobley... ah man that's great. he's a bum, i'll take raja any day
Sun Apr 23, 2006 5:35 pm
I think you meant...
"Greg Anthony is fucking stupid all the time"
I neared choked when I heard his "educated" opinion. Equally dumb was Marc Jackson saying that the Bulls are going to upset the Heat... no team depending on Tyson Chandler to stop Shaq has a chance... what a joke.
Even if the Lakers somehow managed to beat the Suns, they are still not as good as the Clips who are extremely deep, and talented at every single position.
I wish I got paid to spout out random bullshit all the time.
Sun Apr 23, 2006 5:38 pm
Yeah, I love how he's called educated. Why does he get paid to do this? That's bull. I could do a better job, and I'll take a pay cut from what he has(by 100$ a year)

I believe some analysts just like to toss out odd predictions or bold but seemingly inaccurate opinions just for:
a. having a different point of view
b. to get people talking and gain recognition for going against common logic
c. being able to claim bragging rights if their prediction comes true
The same goes analysts trying for humour these days but trying too hard and ending up not being funny at all. Stephen A. Smith is a perfect example of someone who tries to be funny, controversial and insightful all at once and comes off as being much less credible as a result.
Sun Apr 23, 2006 8:56 pm
Not only that, but Steven A. yells too much. He gives me a headache.
Wed Apr 26, 2006 3:50 am
If the Lakers get past the Suns then they will have to play the Clippers. Yes Steven A Smith...quit frankly he sucks and is anoying.
Wed Apr 26, 2006 5:21 am
I thought everybody noticed how easily they coulda got their when the seedings were made final. Oh well.
Wed Apr 26, 2006 2:40 pm
Quite Frankly, I don't think anybody will watch an all LA series.
Wed Apr 26, 2006 3:46 pm
i would.....
anyone notice how Steven A Smith doesn't need to take a breath when he speaks....he just goes on for ages. Well he shouts.
Wed Apr 26, 2006 3:48 pm
Why? At the very least, the Lakers have a huge following so I'm sure those fans would keenly watch a Lakers/Clippers series and ditto Clippers fans. Not to mention that a couple of people here have expressed interest in such a matchup.
