Fuck man..lebron starts something..and the rest of the league copies him like lexmark. Now this is the result; nothing is sacred anymore.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:25 am
Lebron didn't start it.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:25 am
My opinion is mixed,
1) Whats the point of wearing them??
2) Who cares let them wear them their not a big deal...
Just do what Pierce does, wear 2 leg warmers lol
Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:27 am
i think Kobe was the big name guy that started wearing them

who did? Cause i seem to remember him starting it with their 6 game winning streak back in january and commentry made about him feeling superstitious that it was the reason they kept winning.

Jason terry was wearing them last year in the playoffs

What's the leagues excuse?
"Just Because We Can"?
Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:33 am
You must admit..that thing really goes over the top when it comes to breaking uniform code...i can see why they'd wanna do it.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:35 am
Rofl @ the bucks. it's pointless. that's like "we're banning wristbands, headbands, shooting sleeves, etc." why bother?
"That's because the league, according to sources, believes that some players are merely wearing them because they like the look."
So what? You like a shirt, you buy it, you wear it. Obviously.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:36 am
I'm totally for this, I think they look stupid and pointless. Next thing we know there'll be kids showing up for a high school game sporting the tights.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:38 am
good idea. anyone know where i can get some?

jerry stackhouse last year in the playoffs for his groin injury
mike redd in the beginning of the season
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:06 pm
Apparently Stackhouse started it...according to him they helped his groin injury by "just holding everything together."
Hey, does anyone remember when Sam Perkins tried to play his Pre-Season games with a do-rag?
Here's some other things that have pissed the league off in the past...

And this man used to play his games wearing bling-bling and gold chains around his neck...
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:18 pm
I think this is ridiculous... the NBA is only trying to keep their control over their players and it's getting out of hand. What's next? banning compression shorts altogether? if they ban the tights, they should stay consistent and ban the calf sleeves and knee sleeves that players wear.

Jordan too
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:21 pm
didn't MJ have chains around his neck? For at least a dunk contest he did.

yeah, now instead of that they're forced to wear the gay alternate jerseys
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:37 pm
This is just plain gay. Ever since Jordan rocked the calf-band thingy, and the fore-arm band, things have been downhill from there. T-mac's long leg sleeve was okay, seeing as his leg was paper-thin, but having tights is just play horendous.

what purpouse does wearing ANNY gear when playing serve?
What's the puropuse of Rubberbands?
What's the puropuse of Calf/Leg/Arm sleeves?
What's the puropuse of Headbands?
Why cant people just play with socks, shoes, shorts, and a jersey nothing else?
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:45 pm
I play with a headband, but I tend to sweat a lot, and with my longish hair the headband keeps the sweat out of my eyes. I could see that as a reason for some NBA players, but I think there are probably a bunch who wear it simply for fashion.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:46 pm
I sweat like a beast, so a headband or arm band actually has a purpose there. But having any more than one band of any kind is silly. And some of those sleeves actually do have a medical reason behind them. But I see what you're saying. In grade 9 my team played another team and a guy on their team had a sleeve on his arm. Next time we played a month later he was wearing it on his leg.
Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:48 pm
Its not really a problem... I don't really see the point in doing this, but I guess I never really liked looking at guys play in tights.
I also saw during an ABC pre-game that Jerry Stackhouse started the whole tights thing as well.

All players will be required to change their jersey number to 00, and all their last names to "Heinsohn." And the 1-inch rule will be amended from meaning "1-inch above the knee" to "1-inch of testicle must be visible."

I dislike the tights, they look pretty awful IMO. But as long as the whole league didn't wear them, I didn't mind them. Oh well. Can't stop Sterny.
