Just me or Pistons goin' down since ASW...

Not just the fact that 4 of their 13 losses came since then.
Not the fact they lost to NY.
Not the fact they almost lost to Charlotte, Seattle and Chicago.

But they are looking really unlike themselves.
They arent rebounding, they arent playing defence, they dont look motivated.
Maybe its not serious, maybe it is. But any of you think it will carry into the playoffs?

I for one, think so. But only based on their current and recent performances. Thay still have plenty o time to turn it around, or turn it back.

Or maybe, they know that they're gonna finish top of the conference, don't have much to shoot for considering they cant go for 70 anymore, a la Knicks and don't care who they face in the playoffs anyway. (The east sucks monkey balls). It's probably just the lack of any motivation. Its kind of similar to Avery's Mavs. I saw an press conf. with him going crazy, thinking of ways to fire up his team (like dying his hair :shock:

). Its probably like the Mavs lack of motivation. The Mavs are going to be screwed in the Playoffs. They'll automatically be placed 4th, and will not have home-court. :wink:

I still think San Antonio is a better team... they have nearly identical records, yet they faced injury problems with Manu earlier in the year (and Duncan somewhat).... while Detroit has been healthy all year long. If the Spurs had been as healthy as Detroit, I think they'd have the best record in the league.

I'm not sure...Duncan hasn't been a leader, or even made his presence known recently, and Parkers taken his place, and is overshadowing him. Could this be the decline of the Big Fundamental? (Probably not, but he IS posting career lows)

Perhaps they don't need Duncan to be the leader? Tony Parker has significantly improved his jumper, and can still get to the basket... I think Duncan is posting career lows because the Spurs are more balanced.

That may be, but you can't just have your franchise player slide, and just pray that an improving player can replace his presence. Parker of course is showing flashes of a Superstar, but the Spurs just won't be the Spurs without a tall, lanky 7 footer. Not to mention the history of franchises built around point-guards...

You consider 19 points and 11 rebounds per game 'letting your franchise player slide' ? Not to mention the defensive presence he still has...

They still have Manu, Bowen, and a great bench. How is that 'built around a point guard' ??

The team thats freefalling after ASW is Cleveland, not Detroit. It's like dejavu from last year.. Hopefully they can get into playoff so I dont feel sorry for Lebron

yeah Detroit aint playing the same....BUT, last year they finished with 54 wins, played shit most of the season and how many of ya'll picked Detroit to come out of the East...i did, almost everyone was riding Shaq's balls.

Playoff time is where this team excels. Right now they are also trying to incorporate new players to the rotation......Delk & Hunter and extend McDyess' minutes.

Yeah, they aren't playing like they did early in the season, but they've wrapped the East up before the break. (Billups even recently mentioned how HC for Finals works against your team)

It's inevitable. Fatigue starts to set in at this time of the year and the Pistons have already clinched a playoff berth and safe to say the top seed even if it's not mathematically clinched yet; that's just a matter of time. I don't think it will carry into the playoffs. They wouldn't be the first team to taper off a bit towards the end of the regular season then come back strong when the playoffs roll around.

As far as Duncan's concerned, I don't think it's the end of his prime. He wouldn't be the first player to have an off-year in the middle of his prime, quite a few players have a statistical dip in the middle of their careers for one reason or another (nagging injuries being a common one) and come back looking much better the next year.

this is a common excuse.....but perhaps had Wade and Damon Jones not choked in the crunch in Game 7 they could have won?

Injuries are a part of the game, if Wade didn't try so hard in Game 5 perhaps he wouldn't of been injured. (i believe he over extended himself)

its so easy to say yes or no to this, im gonna stick with yes, they would have won just to keep the arguement going, because there is absolutely no way to support each arguement.

If heat was healthy for that series, Heat would have won, no way pistons would have won... i think heat would have taken it in 6.. The heat last year was really good, if theres a rematch this year, i'll take pistons. pistons are better than last year, and heat is not nearly as good
