For the first time in franchise history the Grizzlies will have a representative in the NBA All-Star game. Eyewitness Sports has learned Pau Gasol will be a reserve center for the western conference during All-Star Weekend. The Grizzlies fifth year player is averaging 19.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 4.3 rebounds thru 47 games this season.

The NBA All-Star game is scheduled for February 19th, in Houston, Texas.

If only Mike Miller would've been in the 3-point shootout! I felt he got ripped because he should've made it rather than Raja Bell.

He doesn't really deserve it over Shawn Marion, Elton Brand and Kevin Garnett, though.

Awesome, he totally deserves it.

Marion can't be considered a Center in any shape or form. I'm surprised he got it over KG however, but i guess KG just had too many years of leading his team to the lottery.

Marion would be considered a forward, just like Pau Gasol.

Garnett had too many years of leading his team to the lottery? One too many? How many times has Pau Gasol led his team to the lottery?

well if they put carmelo as a GUARD, then they are left with 2 forward spots, 1 center spot and 2 free spots

dirk nowitzki can be put in as a center, while marion, brand, garnett and gasol can be the other 4.. this is my guess

Pau is deserving but if Garnett doesn't make the cut I'll be disappointed. Anyway, congrats to Pau for being the first Grizz player in the All-Star game. (Y)

That's good, I'm happy Gasol made it. I knew one of the forwards would have to be put as a C to accomodate all of them.

I have a feeling KG won't make the team. Right now, his team isn't really doing too well in the standings and there are toehr forwards who are on teams with better records. Maybe Camby will make it over KG?

Depends if KG makes the cut as one of the two forwards or if he has to be one of the two players of any position the coaches also vote for.

"But Camby is listed as a centre" lol.. KG, Dirk, Marion and Brand should be there for the west, but the whole concept of having to vote in players for positions has to go. I want to see the best.

FELICIDADES, PAU !! I know you would be an allstar this year. And I think he deserves it even more than KG, because he's the leader of one of the best teams in the western conference, which is the hardest one. (Y)

 That's 13.5 rebounds per game!

Congrats to Pau, but I agree with Matthew, this voting acording to positions has to go.

I don't agree, I think you need some sort of positional format. If you didn't have that, you could have a year where it's all guards. What if you have a team with the bench just being PF's, because PF's are real good in the West. Would you play the stating G's 48 minutes in the All-Star game now?

Their's some versatility in positions, if you're a S.forward, you can probably be voted in as a G or F, and a PF as a F/C, but if their was no positional boundaries, you would have years with some odd all-star teams.

Yeah I think voting an allstar team has to go as well, get a panel of experts.
