Isnt Paul Pierce Deserving in the All-Star Game?

Fri Jan 06, 2006 9:18 am

Pierce is having the best year of his career. Hes averageing 26.3ppg, 7.8RPG, and 4.5apg AND hes shooting 50%! I dont think people realize how good he really is. I know the All-Star game is based on Popularity, but if it was based on how well a player performs, dont you guys think he would be a starter on the East?

Fri Jan 06, 2006 9:24 am

It is based on how they perform, the coaches vote the bench. He could get a spot but he wouldn't get many minutes.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 9:30 am

First, your topic doesn't make sense.
Second, I do think he should play in the all star game as you said with his stats..
But I don't think he'll start cause of the popularity..But he should start IMO. He's playing well..

Fri Jan 06, 2006 9:36 am

He's good but the East is stacked with good guards. I'm not sure how many guards can make the team but Wade, Arenas, Billups, and Iverson are all better than him. Or is he listed at forward?

Fri Jan 06, 2006 9:38 am

Redd would make it over him if he is listed as a guard.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 9:47 am

No he wouldn't and shouldn't.

Nope, he's not making his team win games. If he is an all-star, his team must win.

/sarcasm

The team record means a lot to who the coaches pick.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:35 am

He's listed at F, i think Ricky is the SG for boston.

Pierce is undoubtedly a top player but he needs to get more wins for his team to beat out guys like Rasheed & Jermaine for an ASG spot. 13-18 hurts.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 12:18 pm

Pierce is a deserving All-star, well guess what? he made it in like da last i dunno how many years.. soo until he is proved to not make it this year, he is an all-star

He'll prob make it, guard or forward..
Only Lebron and Iverson are more deserving than him
I say him and wade are equally deserving..

Fri Jan 06, 2006 12:34 pm

FRom memeory, I'd say he didn't make it last year..

Are you serious? Redd over Pierce?

Fri Jan 06, 2006 12:38 pm

As I said the record means alot. Also Redd is much more popular.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:05 pm

Yeah, but after the starters it's the coaches who vote the guys in, not the fans.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:31 pm

Record really has nothing to do with it. Pierce is still a great player, even if his team is bad. All-Star game selections are not team selections. That is called the playoffs. Two completely different things.

And even if they were to base it on record, the Celtics are amazingly in the 8th seed.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:40 pm

it'd be insane if he didn't make it.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:49 pm

The Celtics are play like 500% ball. Just a few games under......Pierce shoots 50% 26ppg, 8rpg, and 4.5apg. Hes 6-6 one of the most durable players in the league. Hes very, VERY consistent. He has a bad game out of like every 20-30 games! LoL Hes awsome.

He would tear up M Redd. He should either be beind LeBron for SF or be the Starter.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 1:50 pm

I always vote for him and Jermaine O'Neal for the East forwards. (Y) 8-)

i think we all understand that you like the bucks, and think theyre great. but seriously, get the fuck over it, no one gives a shit that you overrate every single bucks player out there. if it was up to you, every bucks player would start on the east and west teams becuse theyre 'so much better.'
think realistically, and stop saying stupid shit about the bucks players its an insult to every single nba fan out there.

Avrah3- "Redd for MVP."

Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:18 pm

remember after the first game of the year when redd got like 36 points and there was 17 people all registered here saying he was getting mvp... yeh well i hoped we got rid of them all

Only in Milwaukee , kid, only in Milwaukee.

He was there.

He absolutely deserves it and I'm sure he'll be picked by the coaches. Does he deserve to start? Maybe, but as we all know the fan voting is based on who the fans want to see rather than who's actually performing well or the best at their position in their Conference (though usually most of the starters fulfill both requirements). Did Kobe "deserve" to start in the 1998 game? Probably not then in his sophomore season but the fans wanted to see him, he played well and he was entertaining.

Fri Jan 06, 2006 6:47 pm

the 1998 all star game was a great game indeed -- infact kobe had a great showing scoring 18 points I believe. defensively, he was on point too -- just look at this clip of him playing defense
