Play-By-Play: Comments on day-to-day games

Postby Colin on Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:25 pm

Just throw in those comments that I know we all have about various games we catch.

Today the Raptors-Suns game was on. Fantastic game. The Suns kept it close by missing all their three's until sometime in the late 3rd/early 4th. The Raptors couldn't capitalize on anything. They really showed their lack of experience in this game. There wasn't a lot of hustle and smart play from their side, so a guy like Marion just ripped them apart logically. He finished with 28 and 18.

Fourth quarter came and Toronto got some good hustle plays and good shots and held a small lead for a while. Then Phoenix woke up. Steve played like the MVP he is, getting penetration at will and drawing the foul. And Brian Grant came up HUGE, stripping Chris Bosh on two consecutive possesions at the end of the game. Phoenix really opened it up at the end, moreso than the score represents.

Jazz versus Warriors

OMG i can't believe Deron Williams dunked it right over Ike Diogu and shoved him back into the camera guys...

That better be one of the highlight plays of the week.

I caught the end of the Hornets-Sonics game today. Paul and West definitely impressed me. West especially, he stepped back and hit some long-range shots. Even a three as the shot clock was winding down.

Down 16 at halftime Knicks came back to beat the 76ers and win the game in OT after a game winning 3 from Nate Robinson as time expiried.

Knicks were down 16 in the half, but held the 76ers to only 11 points in the 3rd quarter. By the end of the 4th the Knicks had taken over the game and lead by as much as 9. Knicks up 1, Crawford missed a freww throw azllowing Webber to put in an AI miss at the end of regulation.

Knicks up 3 in OT, AI hit a 3 to tie it 102-102 with little over 6 seconds left. Knicks quickly inbounded the ball. Marbury drove down the lane causing the defense to collapse and hitting Nate on his right for the pass. Nate hit an arching 3 for the win!

He was shut down by Ron Artest.

LeBron's yet to show me that he can lead his teams to big wins over the elite teams. They got blown out by the Spurs earlier this year and were blown out on Thanksgiving by the Pacers.

Normally i'd say it's pretty low when we lose to the Hornets, but damn they have a better record than the Kings or the Lakers.

I wonder when they'll rename the team to the Seattle "Freefall".

The 3 that Robinson hit...was great (Y) You got to give respect to him. But the Sixers were up by 16 points. Hopefully they'll go 4-1 in the next games. Dalmebert is back, and that's good, 'cause he's getting 10 freakin' mil per year.

Damn those Sixers, they play the same way every game, giving up the big leads . Me and my dad call them "farschpillers", which is a russian word, which in this case means "Team that always has a big lead, and then winds up losing the game" :wall: (N).

That's a couple of games he's been slightly off getting a triple double with points, rebounds and blocks now.

Ariza's dunk on Big Ben was awesome, definitely worth seeing over and over again. (Y)

indeed, Wallace was too far under the hoop to block that. He even hit Ariza in the face but no foul call.

Pistons played bad and still won, Hamilton knocks 40 pnts....it was a relatively quite 40 points rather. He never forced a shit. Billups had an uncharacteristic 4 TO's or so. A cpl bad entry passes and a offensive foul.

One more thing, Darko needs to play with Rasheed on court instead of Wallace or McDyess. Rasheed is like a PG, he reads the offense very well, passes well and makes things happen.

How about those Sixers?! Stupid Offensive Rebounding is killing them, they were down 13, then they came back in the second half with that zone defense, but after the Hornets took a time out, Mark and Steve were like raving how the Sixers held the Hornets to no FG's in the last 6:23, and then at that possesion, the Hornets Scored! :(

How could the Sixers let another game slip away from them? :shake:

I thought AI should have chugged the ball upcourt and let C-Webb take the shot. He's hit big shots like that before with the Kings. Instead, he took a very hard running 3 with the defense in his face.

I didn't see the game, but Iverson said
Honestly, it was a good look. It didn't get blocked or anything and I got it off in time, but I knew it wasn't good as soon as it left my hand

I don't think you have a chance to run a play with 7 seconds left and no timeouts, especially when you get the ball in your own end. Iverson improvised as best he could in relation to the situation, he didn't have enough time to drive the lane and draw contact to try and tie it so he went for the win.

7 seconds is plenty of time for a guy of his speed, and speed wouldn't really be needed anyway, to apss the ball upcourt to Webber or someone else for maybe a 3 or go at a 2 to tie the game.

That may be, but the difficulty of the shot was very high.
