GM Survey 2005: guess who dominates the NBA

Postby maes on Sun Oct 30, 2005 4:53 am

Wow...very surprising answers.

http://www.realgm.com/src_fromtherafter ... y_results/

1. Which team will win NBA Finals 2006?
San Antonio 77%
Miami 15%
Others receiving votes: Detroit, Minnesota

1. Who will win the 2005-06 MVP?
Tim Duncan 58%
Shaquille O'Neal 17%

2. If you were starting a franchise today and could sign any player in the NBA, who would it be?
Tim Duncan 40%
LeBron James 36%
Shaquille O'Neal 8%
Amare Stoudemire 8%

3. Which player forces opposing coaches to make the most adjustments?
Shaquille O'Neal 64%
Tim Duncan 16%
Allen Iverson 8%

8. Who is the best power forward in the NBA?
Tim Duncan 78%
Kevin Garnett 12%
Others receiving votes: Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudemire

9. Who is the best center in the NBA?
Shaquille O'Neal 84%
Tim Duncan 16%

3. Who is the best interior defender in the NBA?
Ben Wallace 58%
Tim Duncan 23%

I'm a little shocked considering how bashed he was in the media in the Finals. But for GM's, the guys who actually make things happen, Duncan is THE man in the NBA.

Not bad for a guy who didn't play basketball as a kid.

I don't know why they are all over Duncan, just because they won the championship. He screwed up so many times, I couldn't believe I was watching Tjm Duncan. Missing important free throws, big shots, and also that 1 foot tipin that he missed.

No matter how bad he played THIS playoffs (which I don't consider he did, but to each their own), Tim Duncan is the pwn.

I doubt he'd want to kiss your yellow ass. Hyped about? How so? Because he manages to win? Yeah, real hyped about.

KG is the better individual player, TD isn't too far off in that aspect but face it, Duncan is the better winner.

At least TD backs up the hype: 3 rings, 2 mvp's, 3 finals mvp's, roy, etc. etc.

"Yeah, yeah, those don't matter, he's too hyped about. KG's the underdog & has never won but puts up awesome stats so let's say the guy that does put up good stats (like KG) but on the side also manages to win, is humble (like KG) and a treat to watch (like KG), let's just call him hyped up so that KG comparatively looks better. Yeah, that's the idea."

Duncan is a great leader and a great player. He doesn't have to score 30 points or grab 15 rebounds to win games. He doesn't do flashy moves or show emotions but he can still intimidate you and make the people around him better. Seeing TD in those answers does not surprise at all.

I don't want to get into a Garnett debate but after seeing him live night in and night out for 6 + years I've come to the conclusion that he's the best player on the planet.

He shows emotions? He rarely does, I mean, compared to Garnett, he hardly ever does. What did he get wrong? " "

Hey, sure it's biased but I get the thrill of seeing the best player in the world play live in front of me for 41 games and then another 41 on TV. You must be jealous.

1) Best player in the world according to you. Tim Duncan is the MVP of the "World" Champions. (Still uncertain as to why they call it that, but still.)

2) I'm glad you fill your time up with the following: Posting about political issues. Living it up by watching Garnett keep doing what it is he's doing. (And watching Duncan advance.) Masturbating to Andrew's posts.

3) Jealous? I could say the same something like...given you're so busy with the three above mentioned issues, atleast I get pussy & you don't. You must be jealous. But that'd be childish, no?

Duncan IS A BASKETBALL PLAYER, he doesn't need to do windmill/under the legs/behind the back or other shit to be a great player! He is a traditional basketball player, he doesn't do what a b-ball player does nowadays, he doesn't wear baggy clothes or chains, he doesn't listen hip-hop music, but HE IS A GREAT PLAYER

People bash Garnett for saying "stupid" things, yet Duncan called the dress code "retarded" and said international basketball sucks. I didn't hear anything about how childish those comments were.

Duncan is a great player, no doubt, but he is sort of the Tom Brady of the NBA. Great player in a great system with a great coach and was drafted into a great situation. Garnett had to go through the growing pains of A. coming out of high school and B. being drafted by a very young, new franchise that was lucky to win 25 games a year.

Duncan is just a better winner that's all.
This is like Derek Jeter vs. A-Rod

A-Rod is a good player, but Jeter is just a better winner.

Well ofcourse Duncan wins Championships WITH the help of two or three other superstars but look at Garnetts team it sucks dick and he is the only superstar on his team and he still managed to get it more than 30 wins.
So Duncan would have never ever won the championship this year if San Antonio didn't have Parker and Ginobili or Horry.

Duncan said international basketball sucks.

It does... you don't know how it is to play with FIBA rules...it just sucks, Duncan was right with that.

Garnett had to go through the growing pains of A. coming out of high school

It was his choice to skip college and play in the NBA... I think he was wrong with that: skipping college basketball is bad, you can see what happened to Kobe: a guy with such high percentages in High School ball, finished his first 2 NBA seasons under 15 ppg.

I have no doubt about Garnett: since the first day I saw him play I thought he was a GREAT player, and probably he's the best PF in the league now... but Duncan iz just Duncan: seeing someone playing real basketball: throwing the ball in the basket simply iz just beautiful, at least I think it's like that.

Garnett wanted to go to college but they said he didn't have the grades. He was upset but after he declared for the draft he found out he had the grades to make it. He was pretty pissed but he had to stay in the draft.
