Dunk contest

Postby beau_boy04 on Tue Oct 18, 2005 11:42 am

Will be have the best and baddest highflyers this year around? and by that I mean Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Vince Carter, J Richardson, J.R Smith, etc etc.

I hope so I'm getting tired of not being able to see LBJ in the contest. All players should be available for the contest. The NBA should consider changing the rules and have the fans choose the participants instead, sort of like the NBA All-Star game selections.

All players are available for the contest. The three year rule was scrapped, that's why Davis was able to participate. A lot of players just don't want to participate due to fear of injury and what not. :(

Anyone could win it just about it, if they can just be creative enough, and can at least dunk it fairly well

Kobe said no, T-Mac said no, D-Mase has said no, J-Rich had said no, and Dwayne Wade have all said no to a future dunk contest. Carter hasn't made up his mind yet and same for Lebron James.

I'd love Ariza in it. He had a nice dunk yesterday in a preseason game with the 76ers.

It's a shame that the higher profile players aren't interested. It's one thing that's really changed in the last half-decade or so. The stars used to take pride in All-Star Weekend, now it's viewed as a chore. I know, I know, they're human beings and it's well within their rights to decline. But the players of yesteryear just seemed to have a greater appreciation for all aspects of the game, especially All-Star Weekend.

They already get paid WAY too much as it is, why waste money. People are going to come to watch it no matter what.
The minimum is $300,000 a year, in a regular working society that is big money, like as big as it gets almost. People that totally suck are getting paid this, like Yuta Tabuse? What the fuck, I am going to shut up now because it pisses me off to even think about that shit

And this is the main reason why so many high school players jumped into the pros right after high school. Bling bling baby!

Lebron shouldn't be asking 1 million, what if he's granted 1 million and losses the contest? that would be a great embarrasment. Think Lebron think!!!! Let him grow up he's still a kid.
