Bucks Sign Ervin Johnson

Postby kibaxx7 on Tue Aug 30, 2005 10:50 am

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed center Ervin Johnson to a one-year contract, General Manager Larry Harris announced today. Terms of the deal were not announced in accordance with club policy. Johnson begins his 13th season in the NBA and second stint with the Bucks after spending six seasons in Milwaukee from 1997-2003.

"Ervin is a hard-working, high-character, veteran player who has always taken a team-first approach to the game," said Harris. "He adds size and depth to our frontcourt and an experienced voice for our younger players. It’s great to welcome Ervin back and reconnect him to the Bucks family."

Nice pickup in my opinion. They only had Bogut and Gadzuric at C.

Ervin's a great guy, but come on. This is not someone who can still contribute on the basketball court.

Ervin Johnson is a great guy and good for team chemistry but Indy is right, he cannot contribute to a basketball team. The only thing he's good for is 6 fouls vs. Shaq.

Even he joined the Bucks, he is not going to get much playing time unless Bogut is injured.

He'll be more a coach to try and teach Bogut more than anything else.

They were saying in the summer leagues that they wanted to sign him as a mentor for Bogut.

I liked Ervin Johnson's toughness years ago, he was a good defender from what I remember. But man, other than Cassell, his face scares me.
