Jason Williams - where is the Chocolate?

Postby CERVANTES on Sat Aug 27, 2005 10:28 am

:?: Hi everybody. I remember a guy called Jason Williams that played with Sacramento Kings, he was wearing number 55, and was the flashiest PG so far... so the question is, where he went ? Will return him to Miami ?

Because before he was White Chocolate, last years he was White Milk... and that isn't cool. I know, people will start : but now he's top 10 in assists per turnovers ratio, and all that kind of unsignificant stats.

But as an NBA fan, I really prefer the old J-Will.

Sometimes you don't like something of a person, and you ask him/her to change that. And when he/she changes that bad thing, he lost his/her good things. Is like that, don't think about stats. Only ask yourself this question:

As fan, what you prefer, Bruce "Lee" Bowen or Jason "White Chocolate" Williams ?

Maybe I was wrong and everybody enjoyed that "great" final Pistons vs Spurs, maybe fans now prefer defense and slow and boring offense.

I'm really interested in the answers, really. So post.

Oh. My. God. You're an idiot.

Jason Williams has obviously toned down his game because he's more mature, or at least somewhat. In Sacramento he was all flashiness, yes, but that didn't necessarily translate into wins did it? Well it did thanks to Webber, Divac and a strong supporting cast, but seriously, if you had a point guard that ran rampant on the court, would you take that bullshit from him? Yeah, it's entertaining, but it doesn't necessarily make you a good player. I would seriously pick a player that has the willingness to win over a player that's all flash. Jason Williams hasn't even changed that much either. He's still a guy with a lot of mouth and takes ridiculously bad shots. That's why the Grizzlies wanted him out so badly. This is a pretty bad topic, and a stupid one.

Well, the old J-Will was popular with his flashy play, and drew some fan support, but the coaches didn't like that, and the players didn't like that, so he had to play smarter. He's with the Miami Heat, and he'll do something fancy from time to time, but Stan Van Gundy might bench the guy since the Heat is all-business and no play when it comes to game time.

J-will , yup , he could be a good PG if he puts his mind to it , instead of hearing ooohhss and aaaahhhs from the crowd .

As he is now in Miami, he'll have an even harder time doing those crazy-ass passes he tries.

SVG may bench him, as Cy said, but at least he'll have to get a decent backup, cause I seriously doubt Damon Jones will come back.

I think nobody understood the question.

What you prefer to watch: Flashy guys like Jason Williams, or strong defenders and poor offesive play like Bowen ? Because it seems that Pistons and Spurs are so popular in forums...

If I had to choose between J-Will and Bowen... Bowen.

Williams is just a careless showboat.

It depends on what you really want to watch, if you want to see some highlights play, of course you are going to watch Jason Williams, Jason can make amazing pass and cool layups. If you want to see a guy who can play good defence, then of course is Bowen.

Seeing as I don't really like bowen tthat much, J-Will. That's watching though. But to have on your team. dirty but effective Bowen? or flashy, careless J-Will? Bowen. J-Will can be great he plays smarter though. Miami might be the team to make him play smarter

Ok, what I thought. People now prefers to watch Detroit vs San Antonio than Dallas vs Kings (2004 teams). Ok (Y) Thanks for your answers.

personally, it doesn't matter to me if it's flashy or not as long as it's effective...

I remember one game...where Jason Williams bounced the ball real hard and threw the ball high in the air. Chris Webber just looked at the ball and wondered what the hell was going on. Chris Webber, at the last minute noticing it was an ally oop, sort of just um tapped the ball in or something. Anyhow, it didn't look that pretty. You see, flashy passes and stuff are fun, but if do them for the sake of flashy passes, you end up bein inefficient. Look, before you do anything cool, you need to get the basics right. You know, it's fun to see dunks in a while, but it's annoying to see your team LOSE because of a silly turnover. Would you prefer to LOSE? I wouldn't. I would rather have my team combine efficiency with a little bit of flashiness added now and then. I hate the Spurs type of basketball, but I HATE losing even more.
Bored.

Word. I agree with everything you said, the only difference is that I like watching the Spurs, because they represent everything what I love about the game of basketball. But then again, a little bit of flashiness wouldn't hurt, would it ? For me, Jason Williams is just a lost case, a talented player who went nuts.

I mean that he was flashy, and changed, but now isn't a better player I think. So, he only is less flashy. But anyways, it's not the same Jason Williams. I know that the most important is win, I'm not dumb. It's frustrating losing a game because that type of silly turnovers, but I don't remember so many times that Williams made that mistakes at the end of a game. (Y) ANTHONY JOHNSON (Y) BRUCE BOWEN (Y) RON ARTEST (Y) JASON COLLINS (Y) 8-)

Look at his turnovers. They have decreased drastically over the years.

I miss JWill's game to be honest. The way he used to run the offense with the kings its so much fun to watch. Now with the heat, he might bring his old self back as hes teamed up with wade, shaq, and walker. I cant wait to see the heat play.

All the chocolate is going to be gone because Antoine Walker will be eating it all.

That's basically saying, don't expect him to be the same person he was in Sacramento, he will basically be the same person he was in Memphis except he will have 2 superstars on the team and will make things open up easily for him. If he does go crazy, he will get benched just like what was happening in Memphis.

if J-Will puts his mind serously into the game, he should be a very god PG, he has a great court vision.

i don't think so. he's a poor defender and an erratic outside shooter. opposite of what the heat need. but he can handle the ball against pressure defense, something damon jones couldn't do
